Gary Moe and ID Integration will support your company’s implementation of the UID requirements to permanently and uniquely identify parts using labels and direct part marking by performing a needs assessment of your current marking and manufacturing processes. This study will include an examination of all equipment and processes needed to provide an efficient and effective method of labeling and marking your parts.
The UID Needs Assessment is written in report form, and is comprised of an engineering appraisal of the current plant operations, details of hardware/software required to provide a solution, a cost review and a plan of action for implementation of the solution. The report will outline technical, engineering and system requirements and recommendations needed to complete a successful labeling or parts marking initiative.
Actions:
• Determine the best labeling or marking technique for a part or range of parts.
• Review the equipment needed to produce and decode the labels and direct part marks.
• Discuss the importance of mark quality and verification.
• Recommend new hardware and upgrades where necessary.
• Provide an analysis of the system components needed to provide the complete solution including labels and printers, marking equipment, scanners and imagers, verification systems, fixed reading systems, portable data collection units and wireless networking.
• Discuss how best to utilize the labels and marks into existing or new software applications, including inventory control, receiving, quality assurance and shipping.
• Provide an analysis on impact to the configuration management system.
• Detail cost of the proposed solution including hardware, software, engineering, installation, documentation and training.
