Why does leadership seem to be like a taboo?

We live in a world where everything is scheduled, planned and structured and people who dare to talk about re-scheduling, re-structuring, and re-organising appear to be the dreamers.

It’s only recently when I have been to a 12-day programme on leadership that I have discovered that in fact there are loads of ‘dreamers’ in our world. The only issue is that they don’t dare to be themselves in what we can the ‘real world’.

They are people who have ideas, plans and dreams. They want to create, invent, innovate and contribute to the world’s community. In reality, they feel trapped, not able to discuss their dreams openly, fearing discouragement and rejection.

It took me a trip from London to Lucca to discover in the mountains of Italy bright and unique people who want to make a difference. To me, it seemed like a cult or people meeting and hiding away in a remote area not to be seen or should I say not to let their real faces shown.
On the one hand, it is a relief to know I am not the only one dreaming and having ideas of change. On the other, these same people, who are only a miniature portion of their true number in the world, ought to do something about being their true selves.

From setting an entertainment company to creating a social and economic movement, these people, who I’d like to call rising leaders, have the idea, the stamina and above all the desire to bring about a positive change in the world. Their daily activities or social environment may constrain them and even hinder them to some extent.

Being a leader and leading by example sounds terrifying to most of us. If, however, you feel you have the potential, desire, ambition and determination to contribute in the world, don’t wait for an email notification giving you permission to be yourself and achieve your inner goals.

Rising leaders are everywhere and they need that push, which they will not necessarily get. It is never the right time. If you have a dream, go get it. The world needs you!
