There was a time not so long ago when breastfeeding was considered very unfashionable, and mothers to be simply refused to contemplate it. I respectfully suggest that it is much much more important than simply to be treated as a fashion statement.

In recent years however, I am glad to say that attitudes towards breastfeeding have changed quite dramatically. it is now regarded as much more acceptable, and in fact is now considered as the norm for expecting mothers.

I would strongly recommend to all mothers to be, that if they can breastfeed their new baby, then thy most certainly should. In a number of instances it will be physically impossible for some women to breastfeed their babies, and in such cases there are many excellent brands of formula milk available.

Breastfeeding is a natural and beautiful thing which allows a mother to provide her new born baby with everything that is needed for a healthy start in life. Not only does breastfeeding provide babies with the nutritional necessities of life, natural breastfeeding provides mothers and babies with a chance to bond, and establish a loving relationship as well.

Breastfeeding also provides your baby with all the necessary antibodies to fight off many types of infections and other illnesses, both in infancy and in early childhood. So breastfeeding is a truly marvellous and natural way to give your baby the healthy start that they deserve in life.

You are going to want to do it right however, so that you can pass on the most benefit to your baby, and therefore a healthy breastfeeding diet is absolutely essential for you to maintain.

A nursing mother produces twenty three to twenty seven ounces of milk a day, and this in turn burns up around five hundred calories a day. The quality of milk which is produced depends totally on the quality of the breastfeeding diet of the mother. If a mother lacks proper nourishment in her diet for example, her body will still make milk production the highest priority, and as a result the overall health of the mother herself will suffer.

I am suggesting some general guidelines for you to follow here, but naturally you should also keep inclose contact with your doctor, especially if you suffer from any untoward health issues.

A breastfeeding mother should have up to three quarts of water per day, but she should also be careful not to overdo it, as too much liquid can reduce her milk production!

The breastfeeding diet of a mother who is actively breastfeeding, should include two thousand five hundred calories per day. New mothers can eat even more than this, up to two thousand eight hundred calories per day, particularly if they are planning on breastfeeding for more than three months,

Breastfeeding mothers should include five small meals in their daily breastfeeding diet. Each meal should be an opportunity to drink water, to eat low fat dairy products, and also a piece of fruit. It is important that the calorie intake is very regular, so try to keep to a schedule which is specifically designed to accomplish this.

Many breastfeeding mothers who are following breastfeeding diets will often be tempted to eat too many sweets, but do try to ignore this impulse if you possibly can.

It is important that breastfeeding mothers should avoid alcohol. Although this passes through the milk in less than an hour, it could in some cases retard the growth of the baby, especially if the baby ends up consuming it in large quantities.

You should avoid taking any medication during breastfeeding without consulting your doctor, and breastfeeding mothers should also beware of pollutants, including nicotine and pesticide residue.

When it is time to sit down to dinner, breastfeeding mothers should eat a variety of foods that are low in fat content. You should include a wide selection of vegetables with a variety of different colours in your diet.

Please do remember that your breastfeeding diet is essential to your health and the health of your baby! It is very important therefore to stress once again that a mother should make sure that she has a good breastfeeding diet, in order to pass on the most benefit possible to her baby.
