Scientists generally agree that ovarian cysts are caused by hormonal imbalances, causing fluid filled sacs to appear on the ovaries. A woman’s ovaries are two almond-sized glands that release an egg for fertilization once a month. Cysts on ovaries can happen to women of all ages, but fertility drugs in particular can over stimulate the ovaries and cause cysts. nnMost cysts on ovaries produce no symptoms and go away on their own as hormones fluctuate during the normal menstrual cycle. If you experience sudden abnormal vaginal bleeding, abdominal pain or pain during intercourse you should have an ultrasound to see whether you actually do have ovarian cysts. If you have any of these symptoms, especially acute abdominal pain, you should seek attention immediately, even if you have to go to a hospital emergency room. nnOnce a firm diagnosis is made, ask your doctor if there is any immediate danger such as the cyst being cancerous or ready to rupture. If not, there are many things you can do to treat the cysts naturally. nnHerbs such as red clover and black cohosh can bring your hormones back into balance and shrink the cysts. Black cohosh, however, can only be taken in limited dosage so be sure to ask your doctor about it before you start treatment with it. Dandelion and milk thistle cleanse your system, allowing your liver to naturally excrete excess hormones. Bee pollen will improve your body’s overall strength and balance while wild yam also helps balance your hormones. If you are on hormone replacement therapy or fertility drugs, do not take milk thistle!nnPreventing ovarian cysts is the best treatment. Cutting down on meat and cheese and adding more fruits, vegetables, garlic, legumes and whole grains will improve your general health as well as help prevent cysts on the ovaries. Avoiding refined sugar and white flour will also help immensely. In other words, get back to a healthy diet that more closely resembles what people ate before we discovered preservatives, refined sugar and chemicals to preserve our foods. You’ll not only avoid or help shrink ovarian cysts, you’ll be healthier over all!nnCysts on the ovaries can be dangerous. They can rupture, requiring immediate surgery, or they can be cancerous. Be sure that you have a firm diagnosis before embarking on any alternative treatments. Let your doctor know if you intend to treat the cysts naturally; most doctors try to avoid strong drugs and surgery and will gladly help you follow a natural treatment.nnClick Here To read more about The Natural Ovarian Cyst & PCOS Relief Secrets
