The often quoted paradox of our world is that, while technology helps us do things faster and faster, we seem to be getting busier and busier. We want to take advantage of our increased speed by adding more tasks to our schedule. At the end of the day, we evaluate our productivity and efficiency. This may look like a very dynamic picture, but the sad truth is that this way of life is turning us into sedentary people. Can we do anything about it?

Logically, more time spent in front of the computer means less time for physical activity. Many people complain that they do not have enough time to go to the gym, or to go jogging in the morning, or to join an aerobics class. They also say that, when they do get some free time, they are too tired to think about exercising. It might be that they are indeed tired or that they simply got used to not moving much, but the fact is, fewer and fewer people do any kind of physical exercise.

However, the problem might be less serious than we think; there are a few work out tips you can follow. You do not necessarily have to go to the gym; you can get some exercise in your home as well. Surely you can find 15 minutes a day for some small exercises in front of your computer or before taking a shower, or while watching the news. Minor stretches and breathing exercises can do the trick. You might soon feel you want to try some sit-ups or push-ups too. It can also help if you use the stairs instead of the elevator from time to time, or if you walk briskly from your car to the office. There are plenty of such apparently small things you can do to stay active.

Do try not to make the sessions shorter than 15 minutes. And, as with anything else, it is important to maintain your exercising schedule. It will not only make you a healthier person, but you will be able to resume work feeling fresher.

On the flip side, if you really wanted to go to the gym, you would probably find time to go. Unfortunately, many people don’t fully understand the advantages of going to the gym and working out.

Working out can be a great help to most people -- physically, mentally and emotionally. Not only can a physical workout help you to think more clearly, it can also help you have a better-looking body and most of all, a much more healthier one.

Working out or engaging in sports activities can help increase your self-esteem as well as improve the way others regard you. When you start to feel better about yourself, everybody else will feel the same way towards you.

In case you can't go to the gym, you can always do small exercises (like the ones mentioned above) even while you are sitting in front of your computer or watching TV or even before you take a shower. You could do general and simple exercises, minor stretches and breathing exercises. These exercises, although not efficient as a full body workout program, are far more useful than doing no exercise at all.

You can also get a heavy punching bag and hang it in your garage or any convenient place. Each morning, you can throw a few punches to get your sweat running and blood flowing. If a punching bag isn't your thing, get a skipping rope and use it every morning or on your free time for a quick cardio workout.
