Hydrogen peroxide is one of the most important chemical that is widely used to whiten the teeth. Though we all know that peroxide is the best bleaching agent to whiten the teeth, but the question is what should the proportion of the use, and how harmful is it for the teeth. Before answering this question, let us know a bit more on the bleaching agent –

What is Hydrogen Peroxide?

Hydrogen peroxide is formed of two hydrogen atoms and two oxygen atoms. It works like an oxidizer after taking the formation of clear liquid resembling water. This is so because of its wide usage to clean and bleach, and hence removing the stains. You can even use this solution to bleach our hair or to remove stains from our teeth.

How Hydrogen Peroxide Whiten Teeth?

Hydrogen peroxide is a helpful teeth whitening agent as it can decompose into water and oxygen. A concentrated form of oxygen is released by peroxide solution that keenly breaks the chemical bonds by holding together the stain marks within our teeth. The oxygen from peroxide can go deep into the porous structure of our enamel and dentin to clear off our teeth. The yellow discoloration or stain – as known to all on our teeth is the end result of stain dye from eating foods, fruits, drinks and definitely by smoking. The oxygen in the peroxide solution tears off these stains at a molecular level, and result in getting the white teeth with just a regular surface cleaning.

A comparison betwee
Hydrogen Peroxide and Carbamide Peroxide

Carbamide peroxide is also used in recent times for whitening our stained teeth. But the true fact is that after you use the carbamide peroxide solution over your teeth, it will ultimately break into hydrogen peroxide. We can thus conclude that carbamide has less concentration of the bleaching agent in compare to equal amount of hydrogen peroxide solution. Hydrogen peroxide is 3 times stronger than its counterpart. But still then the use of carbamide solution in teeth whitening kits is much more tha
Hydrogen peroxide.

However you don’t have to panic much on which one you should use, you can choose anyone to whiten your teeth, but if you are using Hydrogen peroxide, be cautious of the percentage you are using, as otherwise the bleach can get you into a gum- burning sensation. So I think if your stain is not VERY intense, carbamide peroxide should be your choice.

However I think if you want to look beautiful and create a lasting impression on others, rather than using heavy makeup coats, best option for you is to maintain a forever smile in your lips. And get the smile whitened by using any whitening solution of your choice. You can even choose to go by some homemade remedy like swishing with baking soda and having fruits like strawberries, apples etc.

Apart from all these you must also put a HOLD on your regularized smoking and drinking colored beverages. If it’s a health drink you can have it with the help of straws, so that it directly gets into your stomach.
