A brief overview on the environmental remediation

The environment is tortured every moment by the pollutions that are happening all over the world. rnThe environmental remediation in most cases involves the media such as the sediment, surface water, soil, and ground water. There are many latest technologies involved in the environmental cleanup. There is also a process of excavation or the dredging where the contaminated site is dug up and then transmitted to some regulated dump sites. There is also solidification and the stabilization process in which various forms of reagents are added to the polluted material and turn it into a chemically stable material. In case of the solidification, the reagents are added to the contaminated materials to make it stable physically thereby limiting the access of the materials to the external agents like the rain and air.

Some of the environmental remediation techniques that are applied for environmental cleanup can easily be classified into the in-situ method and the ex-situ method. The affected soils are first excavated and then the surface is treated with the ex-situ method. In case of in-situ methods, the pollution is treated without removal of the soil and then it is given a restored set up.

Bioremediation is a defined process that makes use of the micro organisms or enzymes to restore the polluted sites into its previous state. It is an eco friendly process and is a popular approach with the environmental consultants.
