Paradise for explorers and true European gem, Budapest is political, commercial and cultural heart of Hungary. It is city with cafes, thermal baths and Danube river- whose gentle waves embrace past, present and future. Despite its turbulent past, this city is blessed with scores of hot springs and will dazzle you with its stunning sights, squares near and along the banks of Danube River. This vibrant capital is city of music, from the classics of Kodaly and Bartók to the contemporary fusion of jazz, klezmer, folk and Gypsy sounds. If you are making plan to travel through Eastern and Central Europe, take time to visit Budapest. Here’s cheat sheet for all those who are going to visit Budapest for first time:

How to reach?

Make Brussels airlines tickets and reservations which will land at International airport of Budapest. From here, you can book cab or take public transport and start exploring this city.

Where to stay?

There are many hotels and apartments which will cost approximately €80 per night. Other main thing about accommodation is, if it is your first-time in Budapest stay in Pest side.

Where to eat?

You can eat Hungarian fusion for €25 per person and Italian food for €10 per person for lunch.

What to do and see

Spending 2-3 days in Budapest are enough to do and see first-timer musts.

Day 1: Start by riding #2 tram along the Danube river to get glimpse of Budapest’s famous sights and how cities of Buda and Pest are situated. Tickets for this tram are easily available in metro station. You can also choose guided tours which are offered daily at 10:30 AM and 2:30 PM and departs from Vorosmarty Square. There is no obligation to book tour in advance and no compulsion to stay for entire tour.

After this, take funicular or walk to Castle Hill for panoramic views of city and river. Also, explore Buda Castle, Mathias Church, Royal palace, Fisherman’s Bastion, Citadel for the Liberty Monument and Heroes Square.

Though, Budapest is famous for its thermal baths, don’t forget to take Szechenyi Thermal Bath and Geller Spa. After purchasing ticket, you got access to baths and can also get spa treatment.

Day 2: Visit St. Stephen’s Basilica in the morning to avoid crowds and see it at its best. It is largest church and can hold 8500 people. If you love Opera, head to Hungarian State Opera. An opera can take anywhere from 3 to 4 hours.

Visit Terror Háza Museum dedicated to the memory of people who were tortured and killed in the building. Make sure to come prepared with ample time at least 2 hours.

Plan a trip and make American Airlines flight reservations to Hungarian capital which offers one of the most stunning metropolitan panoramas in Europe.
