What's the big deal about taking responsibility for what you think, feel and do? One big deal is the enormous fear people have about adopting self-answer-ability. However, the benefits of adoption are a gigantic positive deal. Once you taste "the deal" you won't make a sandwich without it. What do people fear about self responsibility? * People fear owning up to their actions. They think it means they're guilty for all that has happened in their life. It's difficult to let toxic people from your past off the hook by saying, "I'm responsible for all the crumby things you said (or did) to me." Actually, self responsibility has nothing to do with guilt. It's a letting go of unhealthy ties to the past but does not vindicate what anyone has done to hurt you. * Another fear is that in taking self authority on, others will expect more from you. Or, you might find yourself buried under more responsibility than is possible to handle. Actually, self responsibility is a sincere decision or heartfelt intention. It has nothing to do with what others expect. It's about what you expect from you and your willingness to try. * To accept self accountability requires leaving victim-hood behind. Some believe that means they'll be on their own and/or alone. Actually, self responsibility doesn't mean being completely self sufficient. It means you are not going to blame others for your thoughts, feelings and actions. It means saying I'm sorry, if necessary, when you come up short. * Taking charge of yourself is a lifetime learning process. It's not a heavy "thing" dumped on you all at once. Actually, nothing gets dumped on you. Part of holding your own bag is learning to set good boundaries with others. In other words, not allowing yourself to take on too much. The benefits of self responsibility are what? * It feels good. Self responsibility gives a sense of personal power to those who exercise it. You know you have a right to take up space on the earth just as others do. * When you learn to be CEO of yourself, life becomes more your own creation. You're not always habitually reacting to something or someone. Instead, you're making choices about what you think, say and do. If you make a mistake, well, you just take responsibility for that and move on. * Life is less chaotic the more you exercise making good choices. You can choose how to respond to life in ways that will get you what you want or need, without unnecessary drama. Inner peace becomes more and more the norm. * I don't care about self responsibility being a good or right thing to do. It's necessary however, if you want to feel and do better more of the time. Victim-hood will never be an elixir of happiness or health. * Minding your own store is a graduation to a "higher" frequency in the universe. In the new frequency life gets easier, not harder. First because you're better equipped to handle situations you can't control. Second, it's a more natural state of being. My guess is, the "SR Frequency" resonates with love and compassion. In essence, being self responsible does not make you a more intrinsically valuable human being. What it will do is help you stay in melodious synch with the life force, however you define that.
