A Natural Antifungal Solution
Recent studies show that a particular type of honey known as "Manuka Honey" contains extremely powerful antifungal properties.
There are many different types of medication available to treat fungal infections such as ringworm, athlete's foot, jock itch, nail fungus, etc. These products are usually obtained by a doctor's prescription or purchased over-the-counter.
Antifungals products work by exploiting the differences between mammalian and fungal cells in order to destroy the fungal organism without dangerous effects on the host. Unlike bacteria, both fungi and humans are eukaryotes, which are organisms whose cells contain a distinct membrane-bound nucleus. Therefore, fungal and human cells are similar at the molecular level. This means it is more difficult to find a target for an antifungal medication to attack that does not also exist in the infected organism. Consequently, there are often negative side effects to some of these types of antifungal products. Some of these side effects can be life-threatening if not used properly.
At a time that people are losing faith in pharmaceuticals and gaining faith in natural alternatives, Manuka Honey presents itself as a viable option for treating these fungal conditions. Manuka Honey is a natural and organic substance that has been found to have no negative side effects when used for medicinal purposes. As a result, it's now being used as a key ingredient in an over-the-counter antifungal solution made by a company called Honeymark.
"Because Manuka Honey also has strong antibacterial and antimicrobial properties, it has been used as an ingredient in other types of products. However, Honeymark makes the only antifungal product that harnesses the extraordinary antifungal properties of Manuka Honey," says Frank Buonanotte, CEO of Honeymark International. "In addition to containing Active Manuka Honey, our Anti-Fungal Solution also contains Tolnaftate which is another antifungal agent, making it extremely effective in treating a variety of different fungal conditions."nnnnnn
