Almost everyday, new professions are born. The youth creates new ways, sometimes even industries, to make money as they have a fresh approach to lifestyle. They noticed that the 9-5 convention permitted older generations to stay alive, but not actually live life like many might have yearned when they were initializing their carriers. A digital nomad does not go to office or take a train to work everyday and sometimes lacks basic necessities too – such as a home. This is the digital age and to ally with it is the future. Jacob .L is a young entrepreneur and has contrived many successful businesses in the past[ Laukaitis, Jacob. "Jacob Laukaitis." Jacob Laukaitis Personal Website, jacoblaukaitis.com Accessed 26 May 2018. ]. His first business started when he was 15. His latest business provides him with enough money to eat, to pay his bills and most importantly to travel. It must also be understood that Jacob .L travels for 11 month a year. An entrepreneur since the age of 15, Jacob has been travelling and running his business simultaneously, as I learned from one of his written articles, since he was 19. To be a digital nomad, all one needs is a computer and an Internet connection. Mega-industries have built a stature on the Internet, selling and buying goods and services without the previously indispensible physical interactions. Amazon pioneered the e-commerce market in 1994, ushering the industry under massive attention. Goods could be bought and sold from anywhere at the click of a few buttons. Under the company’s shadow, smaller businesses grew with an aim to provide with the need of physical interactions reduced to zero. This is how, in existing firms, windows to e-commerce opened and almost everything can now be done online, including seeking legal advices and academic learning, all for a price. At around this time people started to relax and not strain their minds, because work could be done from home – or anywhere they wished. There are hundreds of young entrepreneur’s who run regular businesses with the aid of the Internet alone and Jacob .L is just one of them. The lifestyle/profession is not limited to businesses, but rather is limitless. An aspiring digital nomad can be anything and more from the list below: ïE-Book writer – Someone who writes subject focused or fictional books and sells electronic copies of them online. ïOnline tutor – A teacher whose lessons are on a skype or a video call. ïFreelancer – A freelance writer, digital artists or a video editor among many more such professions. All work is submitted online. ïOnline retail – A product that is bought and sold online by parties different from the digital nomad, but income is made. (eg. Retailers sell products and the goods are shipped to the buyer by a third party) With research and creativity, several potential businesses and sources of income can be erected, allowing an open gate to being a Digital Nomad. When travelling, online international hotel booking should not be a great task for a digital nomad. Cheap international flight tickets, local restaurants and tourism research can all be found on the internet. The professions may appear excitingly fun, but by no means is it easy. It takes a few years for many digital nomads to start travelling full time and be location independent professional workers. Despite the hard work that goes into it, the lifestyle of a digital nomad is worth all the effort.
