Many businesses are seeing the advantage of using a used dock ramp to help load and unload cargo from trucks, vans and storage containers. Quality loading dock equipment makes the operation of a warehouse run more efficiently. Using time-consuming equipment also makes it safer for the forklift operators and workers. They are built durably strong to allow heavy forklifts to move across them into the vehicle or storage container, to remove pallets of heavy cargo. Dock doors secure the warehouse’s docking area when there is no unloading or loading being performed. Typically crafted from metal, they are also manufactured from a variety of other materials including aluminum. Dock levelers are often used to connect the dock to the back of the truck. They compensate the differences in height. Typically they are built to expand and can be lowered or raised mechanically.

Improving the Dock Environment

Dock seals are installed to the back of the docking area and are used a simple way to form a seal around the truck and the building. Dock shelters are often used to protect the materials and workers from the outside environment while the truck is being loaded or unloaded. Specially designed dock lighting fixtures are used to improve the visibility around the docking area and deep into the interior of the trailer being loaded.

Strip doors are manufactured with plastic strips that hang vertically across doorways and used to control the environment. The strips will create access into the heated or cooled area and protect the control environment from the majority of airbo

Maximizing Safety

Truck restraints work well at holding the truck trailer into its position in the docking area. The restraint eliminates the risk of truck movement when the operator is loading or unloading the cargo. Some docking operators use wheel guides to help position the cargo truck while it is docking. Chocks are often used as wedges against the tires of the semi-truck’s trailer to keep it firmly in place while it is being unloaded or loaded.
