A “Spa Moment” – Salve for Sorrow

When life throws us a curve, the gift of a "spa moment" can be the perfect touch. A local spa offers healing relief and is perfect for those who can’t venture far from home or the hospital. rnSince spas typically offer a variety of massages, manicures, pedicures, facials, and packages, a short trip to the spa can be a magical getaway. So, deliver the gift of a warm and healing time to friends in need. Show them that you care by giving them the chance to get away from the reminders of day-to-day life. rnLife crises can come in many forms, leaving spirits worn and bodies exhausted. Consider gifting a spa treatment for friends or family who are struggling and discouraged. New mom or dad: A spa gift is perfect for a sleep-deprived mom or dad caring for a new little one. Both might relish some “me time.” Miscarriage: Don’t forget those moms whose dreams have been shattered as they struggle with a pregnancy loss. Their empty arms should not be forgotten. Respite break: People who care for a sick family member day in and day out put themselves on the back burner, sometimes for years. Imagine how a few hours at a spa would feel to an exhausted caregiver. Make sure someone stays with the sick loved one so the caregiver can get the needed break without worry. Illness or accident: In the blink of an eye, life can change. Someone struggling with a debilitating diagnosis or an accident might love some rejuvenating time at a spa. Check first to be sure that they have the doctor’s okay. Anniversary of a death: Remembering the loss of a loved one is kind and can mean a lot to someone who is grieving, whether it’s a month or a year later. A moment of pampering just might bring some soothing relief. Difficult life change: A divorce, the end of a long-term relationship, a job loss, or an unwanted move to a new place can bring people to their knees. A spa moment can be so comforting and a real pick-me-up. Know someone going through a bad time? Gather a group of friends to pool their money to buy a spa gift card. Don’t forget to include enough for the fifteen to twenty percent tip. This allows the friend to choose any type of service she or he is comfortable with. Offer to go along if your friend would feel more comfortable sharing the experience with someone. So, when you are asking that age-old question, "What can I do to help?" consider giving a spa gift.
