Valentine’s Day means many things to many people for few people it is a chance to start new relationships, rekindle old ones, or remind that special someone how wonderful they really are. And for others it is jus another “Hallmark” holiday where they are expecting to do something. Chocolate has long been a favorite gift for lovers regardless of your hopes, expectations, or reservations about Valentine's Day

Since long days chocolates have been used as gifts. A box of luxurious quality chocolate says a thousand "thank you's", "good luck", or "I love you" today. Chocolates can also be given as a way of saying "congratulations", "I am sorry" or "get well soon". Chocolates clearly say “I LOVE YOU” on Valentines Day. Chocolates are more than just food they not only satisfy your hunger but also make you feel good. Chocolates evoke many feelings and emotions for us. Chocolate is associated with passion, romance, and love. It is believed that chocolate was a source of spiritual wisdom, incredible energy and elevated sexual power. Chocolates were widely used for serving at the wedding ceremonies and also as a nuptial aid. In earlier times cocoa was used as a drink. It is said in reports that Emperor Montezuma consumed large quantities of the drink every day and always fortified himself with a cup before entertaining his harem. It was stated by the explorer Cortes that chocolate is "... the divine drink which builds up resistance and fights fatigue to the Carlos I of Spain. Just a cup of this drink enables man to walk for a whole day even without food. Chocolate was considered a substance of power and a source of vitality form the earliest times.

Since the shipment from Veracruz arrived in Spain in 1585 chocolate has been a subject of study. But modern science has got some interesting findings that may help us to explain our lust for quality chocolates. Organic substance known as alkaloids is a content of chocolate. Theobromine is the most important substance of these and works as a stimulant for the kidneys. Stimulants in chocolates affects central nervous system same as caffeine and it is also present in the chocolate. A chocolate bar contains as much as 200mg of theobromine but only about 25 mg of caffeine. Phenylethylamine is another important substance found in chocolate, it is a part of a group of chemicals known as endorphins. Endorphins have the same effect as the amphetamine that is naturally found in the human body. Endorphins when released in the bloodstream mood get lifted and feelings of positive energy are reached.
