A Winning Attitude

What I’ve learned throughout my years on earth is that attitude is everything. The way that you choose to mentally process situations is what will determine the effects of that situation on your life. Studies consistently show that successful people have “winning attitudes.” Allow me to share with you five keys to having a winning attitude. Key #1: learn how to thrive under pressure. Every second counts and you can’t afford to crack under pressure. As a leader (in any capacity) it’s important that you’re perceived as cool, calm, and collected at least 99.9% of the time.

Key #2: learn the strategy of focus. You will have personal things going on in your life that could interfere in your career and be a distraction. Don’t lose focus on your immediate goal. Focus on only what you have to get done at that moment, get it done, and then move on to the next thing. Key #3: learn how to recover. Get in a habit of confronting your mistakes. Practice doing this until you no longer take failures personally. Learn to fail forward and fast. Key #4: know when it’s time to step up. When you’re in a position of leadership, step up and get your team moving together in the right direction. Keep your goal in mind and be ready to think fast if obstacles come your way. Give your team specific guidance as well as clear and constructive feedback along the way.

Key #5: finish right. Make sure you share any accolades you receive with others who deserve it. “There’s no limit to what can be accomplished when it doesn’t matter who gets the recognition.” Make it a point to thank those around you – publically and privately – so they can really see what a difference they’ve made in your life.
