It is possible to have a full-time internet business and have the life that you want. It will not come from instant solutions; instead whatever you do will require effort and some hard work - in the early stages at least. Once it is going and making money then you may be able to sit back a bit and enjoy. To get to that stage there are 5 things that you need to think about to get you to that point of success.
You do need a business plan. If this is going to be a full time operation you need to spend some time getting the outline on paper. It will crystallize your thoughts about what you are doing and how you are going to do it. It doesn't need to be fancy and you don't need to have all the answers. By at least asking the questions you'll be on the way to solving them.
Once you are clear, or reasonably clear on the plan, discuss it with someone you trust and know will be objective. An honest opinion is worth 100 times more than three opinions telling you just what you want to hear.
Start thinking about how you are going to operate. Do you intend to use the spare room in your house or are you going to use a rented office space. Most people work from home when setting up a full-time internet business - who can afford to pay for extra expenses in the start up phase?
Focus on providing a good customer interface on your website. This is your shop front and if it doesn't work properly then you aren't going to convert as many visitors to customers as you would like. Make it a clean website, easy to view, easy to get around and make it easy for your customers to get in touch with you.
Think about how to raise your profile. When you are starting out you need to get your name out there. This does not mean spamming people or posting 100 irrelevant messages on blogs. But do talk to friends and family, use chat rooms, make sure your site is SEO optimized. If you don't know what that is this is one area you need to do some research on.
Have Patience and stick to your business plan. As the old saying goes, "It may not happen ove
ight - but it will happen" Success may take some time to show it's pretty head, but if you work hard and have a good product your full-time internet business can be a stepping stone to success.
