The idea behind getting a cut, beautiful abdominal area is actually quite simple. Sadly, most fitness magazines tend to focus on the wrong things that at best give you mediocre results and at worst can just hurt you. So why is it that most people have so much trouble with this one area of their bodies? Fitness enthusiasts are addicted to doing abdominal exercises. Every single health magazine, television program or infomercial out there hocks the best and most cutting edge short cuts to getting a six pack. Everything from the regular sit-ups and crunches to new fangled gizmos that promise miracles in no time at all. Have you become one of the people how has succumbed to buying into these ideas only to find that the results fall far short of miraculous? Were you shocked to see how much fine print there was in order to get the “results” that were promised? rnHere is the problem in a nutshell. Abdominal exercises do not work for getting you a six pack. Whether you spend your time doing sit-ups, crunches, obliques, leg lefts, or another exercise, it does not matter. Don’t be fooled into thinking that because your abs are burning that you are any closer to getting a six pack. In fact, you can do ab exercises all day and it really won’t help all that much. So wait a minute, we hear you saying, “Are you trying to tell me that abdominal exercises are actually bad?” Of course not. Abdominal exercises are very important to a healthy body and keeping your body in alignment so that you do end up looking far better and protecting your core. As we said, so many people are addicted to the burn of sit-ups and or other abdominal exercises, thinking this burn is what is going to give them a killer six pack. This is simply lactic acid building up and nothing more. But, the simple fact is that abdominal exercises burn very few calories at all in comparison to other body exercises. There is one way and one way only to get six pack abs. YOU MUST LOSE THE FAT! Losing the fat is something that we all already know right? Well, if that is the case, why is it you see people spending 45 minutes doing abdominals every day? The only way to burn fat is to perform exercises that jack up your metabolism. So all that exercises time is much better spent doing high intensity short burst exercises that engage the metabolism and get it revved up to burn fat. If done properly, a short burst high intensity exercise lasting only 4 minutes will burn up to 9 times more fat than an hour of steady cardio! Think about it, you can do 1000 sit-ups a day but if you have a layer of fat over those nice abs, no one will ever get to see them. Abdominal exercises are very important, but if your goal is to get a six pack, the only will you will ever achieve it is to shed the layer of fat that is covering your abs. For best results, take the extra time and perform several short, high-intensity fat burning workouts. You will be amazed at just how fast you see results.
