The other afternoon while puttering around the house, I happened upon one of my cats sleepily reveling in a patch of sunlight. It struck me as odd to find him there. He wasn't lounging in one of his usual haunts; an elevated surface of some sorts or a location involving a blanket or cushion. He found a patch of warm afternoon sun on the rug and chose to enjoy it where it was, on its terms. He was blissfully content where he was. That’s the thing about happiness. It’s not something you can force at specific times, in specific locations or under specific conditions. How often do we often tell ourselves, ‘I’ll be happy when (insert thing) happens’ or ‘when I have (insert thing)’ only to find contentment and happiness have nothing to do with that desired thing? Happiness comes from finding abundance in what is, in its own form and from stopping to appreciate the ordinary or overlooked. To truly recognize abundance requires we stop placing conditions on it. rnblessings,rnCatiernCopyright 2013 WomanLinks.com
