Actors Do It For A Living

A Good Actor Can Get Paid Twenty Million Dollars Just To Act As If They Were Someone Else In A Motion Picture.

They are paid fortunes for their ability to act. A great actor who has had professional training can laugh - cry - frown - faint - show anger - sadness or happiness, when told to. They can portray a wealthy person, a hobo, an intelligent person, or an ignorant person.

Once they are selected to play a role in a movie - they practice and rehearse until they become the person they are portraying.

George C. Scott became General Patton. Marlon Brando became The Godfather. Ben Kinsley became Gandhi. Robert Di Niro became Jake Lamatta the fighter. Yul Bryner became The King of Siam --- They each won an Oscar for best actor.

James Whitmore, in a one-man stage show, played President Harry Truman in, Give Em Hell Harry – and then in another one-man-show, he played Will Rogers. He went all over the world playing those same parts over and over again until he eventually became the people he was playing.

Kirk Douglas played the famous painter Vincent Van Gough who in a fit of mad rage cut one of his ears off. Kirk prepared so hard for the role that, after the movie was made, he said that he had a hard time coming back to reality.

On the old TV show, “You Asked For It,” Rich Little became fifty different people in five minutes. He was such a great impersonator that he can become a hundred different people right before your eyes. Sound like them, walk or stand like them, and in many cases, he even looked like them. Sammy Davis Jr. was a great impersonator too. I saw him doing such a great job of impersonating John Wayne that you could really see John Wayne in front of you – even though Sammy was Black and very short. That was hard!

Would you like to become a very happy and rich person? Here’s how! I’m going to give you some acting assignments, and I want you to try a different one every day. After you get good at these – then you will be ready for bigger and better roles that will lead you to greater success achievement in your life.

For the first day – I want you to imagine that a major Hollywood studio is auditioning you for the main role in a major movie about one of the happiest and richest people in the world. Twenty other major actors are also being auditioned. The way it is being done is, every day for the next twenty-one days one of the top directors in Hollywood is going to spend the entire day with a different person each day. The director and his film crew are going to follow you around for ten hours and film your every move: Your mannerisms, facial expressions, your body language, all of your conversations with others, your expertise in communication skills, and your believability as the character you are playing. Then when they have finished with everyone, they will review all of the films in front of all of the studio executives for them to decide who will get the part.

Here Is Your Acting Assignment:

I want you to act as if you already are - one of the happiest people in your town. Get a 3 x 5 card, and write the word HAPPY on the top of the card - carry it wherever you go - look at it repeatedly throughout the day and practice doing the following: Think as many happy thoughts as possible. Look happy - all day long. Practice looking in the mirror - put on and keep on a happy face. Act happy. Walk happy - think about this as you are walking - practice walking as if you are extremely happy. Put a happy tone to your voice. When you are standing - stand as if you are very happy. When you are listening to others, listen in a very happy way. When you are sitting, sit as if you are very happy. Make all of your facial expressions and body language convey happiness. Practice, practice, practice. Practice makes perfect. Try real hard to qualify for this role.

After you feel that you gave it your best effort and feel very satisfied with your performance - Use all of the same procedures you used to express happiness - to express the following: Try a different one every day.

• In love with your life and the way it’s going

• Very alert

• A person with many great qualities
• A person who has tremendous self-respect and self-esteem
• Patient
• Humble
• A person who always has fun
• You like and enjoy people
• You are very interested in what others think and feel and what they have to say.

Learn to always project these qualities. You will eventually become the person you are portraying.

Act as if you already are: filled with energy, power, time, ideas, enthusiasm, positive thinking, abundance, joy, happiness, riches, love, money, friends, hope, purpose, wisdom, cooperation and teamwork.
