Acupuncture has been successfully uses to help reduce or eliminate back pain for the following conditions: • Black Disc Disease - As you age the discs that cushion your vertebrae can start to dry out. Black disc disease is what happens when there is no more fluid in the discs. This causes them to become much thinner and weaker and exposes your facet joints to wear and tear. These damaged discs now make it harder for you to flex, bend or twist your back. • Desiccated Disc Disease - This is the starting of black disc disease. You haven’t lost all fluid in your disc, but it is slowly starting to go away • Herniated Discs - A herniated disc is what happens when a disc in your spine ruptures or tears. This allows the softer gel like center of the disc to push out and into the spinal canal. When this occurs it compresses nerves or your spinal cord which can lead to symptoms of pain and numbness • Back Strains or Sprains - This is a very common issue and the number one reason for lower back pain. It can occur when you stretch or tear either your muscles or ligaments in your back • Degenerative Disc Disease - Another degenerative disease that affects almost all of us as we age.
