Following reports that mosquitoes capable of transmitting the dangerous West Nile virus are on an infection spree, Denton County officials are gearing up to test the effectiveness of aerial insecticide spray.
In order to determine whether the aerial spray of Duet pesticide provided quick and effective eradication of the disease carrying insects,health regulators trapped mosquitoes in areas which received the spray treatment.
As per the official spokesperson of the Denton County emergency services, it takes few weeks to chalk out the official
report on effectiveness of the spray.

A mosquito control company named Dynamic Aviation and Clarke started spraying in various parts of the county in order to contain the spread of the deadly virus. The company was scheduled to conduct another round of aerial spraying on Sunday night.
A health emergency was declared by county judge Mary Horn who directed spraying be carried out in the entire county. A few of the 44 municipalities in the county had opted out of spraying. These included Corinth, Denton, Haslet, Hebron and the Colony.
Most of the county was covered by Saturday night. The only portion excluded was an area north of Krum. It was to be covered in the spraying scheduled on Sunday along with other areas like Flower Mound, Lewisville, Roanoke and Trophy Club.
It is must be noted that two applications of the spray are needed in order to evaluate its efficacy.

Meanwhile, reports of mosquito pools and infections are still pouring in. The Health Department monitoring for disease-carrying mosquitoes spotted 77 positive mosquito pools by Sunday afte
oon.
In addition, 145 confirmed cases of virus infection including 102 cases of West Nile fever with mild symptoms and 43 of more serious neuro-invasive disease have been detected.
