A charity program is a not for profit entity which is exempt from tax, with an aim to raise money for a cause related to religion, education, science, literary, testing for public safety, medicine, amateur sports and prevention of cruelty to children and animals. There is also a possibility that they are exempted from property taxes and they have the chance to apply for government grants or private allocations.

Charity programs simply support a needy cause and outlines the steps in which they should take in order to help make a difference. They also create awareness through events, product sponsorship or the media including via the internet to try and encourage others to get involved and to join them in supporting the charity. They may hold several events or sell merchandise to try and raise money for the cause.

Grant making is when a company or organization allocates a certain amount of money to donate to a specific cause or charity to help them to make a difference to those in need and succeed all the aims that they plan to. As well as charitable causes such as poverty or medicine, this may include giving to entrepreneurs with viable business ideas or arts grants to help fund a dance work shop for example.

Various grant making organisations in the UK include Awards For All, BBC: Children In Need, Community Foundation Network, National Lottery, The Esmee Fairbai Foundation, Joseph Rowntree Foundation and The Voluntary Sector Training Consortium.

The Prince’s Trust helps to change young people’s lives by giving grants for a various number of reasons. This might be a donation to help a teenager train to become a chef and buy the uniform and equipment that they need. It may pay for a mentor to help an unemployed person set up their own business. These are all causes which help to make the country a better place and improve the economic situation.
