The word hatha can be broken into two pieces: “ha”, and “tha” which mean “the sun” and “the moon” respectively. The whole purpose of Hatha yoga is to attain a balance of the sun and the moon inside you. It brings along a balanced development of body, mind, and spirit to develop your body for the process of meditation. The hatha yoga is a composition of five types of positions which includes the standing, sitting, resting, balancing and backbend positions. To know more about the Hatha yoga positions, let us discuss in detail about a few positions and their benefits. Hatha Yoga Positions: - The Vrikshasana: The vrikshasana derives its name from the calm and stability of a tree that is attained during performing this particular position. The vrikshasana brings more stability to your legs and an overall balance of your body. - Tadasana: Also known as the mountain pose, it can be termed as a base for performing any of the asanas in Hatha yoga. It is one of the most basic of the Hatha yoga and must be performed only on an empty stomach. Tadasana helps in strengthening the knees, ankles and the thigh part. It improves the blood circulation and removes the tension from the body. - Baddha Konasana: It resembles a butterfly flapping its wings, therefore, also termed as the butterfly position. It is known to stimulate the working of the heart, kidneys and the abdominal organs. It also helps in tackling menstrual pains and menopause. - Setubandhasana: Also known as the bridge position due to its resemblance to the structure of a bridge. It helps in fighting stress, improves the digestive system, and fights insomnia too. The above mentioned are just a few positions and their benefits which are a part of the Hatha yoga. There are more positions which are a part of the Hatha yoga and can help you tackle with a lot of bodily problems and let you stay away from the stress.
