Definition A newbo kid is an offspring of its parents. The newbo refers to a baby that has been born within just a few hours or a few days. In medical context, a newbo kid refers to child that is 28 days old or lesser. The term newbo is derived from the Latin word infants which means speechless. Hence a newbo is also called an infant. Size The newbo kid has small hips and shoulders when it is born. It has just come out of its mother’s womb to the new outside world. As soon as it is born, its senses become more active and it tries to absorb and perceive the things around it. The average weight of the newbo is around 3.2 kgs. The average length of the body is anywhere between 35 and 50 cms. Size of Head The head of the newbo is quit large in comparison to the size of the body. Though the human skull is 1/8th of the total body height, it is about 1/4th the size of the body in the newborn. In the newbo the fontanel (also known as soft spots) has not fully fused together. But as the newbo grows the two parts will gradually fuse together. The newbo kid has little bit of hair called lanugo. Very little hair is found on the ears, forehead, back and shoulders. Lanugo will disappear within a few weeks. The scalp may appear swollen or bruised and the area around the eyes may appear puffy. Digestive Tract The digestive tract of the newbo is filled with a greenish-black, sticky material. This material is responsible for development of the intestines which are then able to absorb milk and then process it to convert it into nutrients essential for the kid’s growth. Immediately after birth the skin may appear gray or blue in color. However the blood begins to flow swiftly through the blood vessels and after 1 or 2 days the skin will appear redder. When born, the new born kid is wet and its skin is coated in streaks of blood. The newbo kid may also have birthmarks and peeling skin which can be seen on the wrists, ankles and feet. The genitals may seem enlarged and reddened. In a boy the scrotum is quite large. The females and sometimes the males may release mill from their nipples and this milk is called witch’s milk. This process will disappear soon. Umbilical Cord The umbilical cord attached to the newbo kid is bluish whiter in color. It is cut with a pair of scissors leaving a 2 inch stub. This stub will dry out within 3 weeks and fall off. The hospitals normally apply a dye to the cord to prevent it from getting infected. The newbo kid should be taken care off by the mother and the father as instructed by the doctor. It should be fed on time and showered with lots of love and affectation to ensure that the newbo kid is happy and it has good health. The new born kid can be taken home from the hospital after around 2-3 days.
