All you need to know about Consolidated e-Way Bill

If a supplier is transporting multiple consignments of goods in a single vehicle, he/she can generate a consolidated e-Way Bill. This means that if different consignments are being ferried in the same vehicle, the consignor need not generate multiple e Way Bills. All he/she has to do is generate a consolidated Electronic Way Bill.

How to generate consolidated e Way Bills:
• A person has to go to the website – www. ewaybill.nic.in
• After entering the User Name and Password, he/she has to put in the Captcha Code and then click on ‘Login’.
• After the credentials of the user are authenticated, the main menu of the e Way Bill portal will get opened.
• The Consolidated e-Way Bill option can be found on the left-hand side of the main menu of the e-Way Bill portal.

It must be kept in mind the person generating the consolidated e-Way Bill should have all the e Way Bill numbers of all the consignments that are to be transported in a single conveyance or vehicle.

Furthermore,

• Under Consolidated EWB, the sub-section ‘Generate New’ has to be selected.
• Thereafter, a screen will come up that will ask for the following details-

1) Mode (Rail, Road, Air or Ship)
2) From State (The user has to select from a drop-down menu)
3) Vehicle Starts From
4) Vehicle No (as per the format specified)
5) E-Way Bill number

After these details are furnished, the rest of the fields, namely, ‘e-Way Bill date’, ‘Generated BY’, ‘Inv. No. and Date’, ‘Inv. Amount’, ‘Source’ and ‘Destination’ will be auto-populated.

6) Thereafter, multiple consignments can be added by clicking on the “+” sign.
7) Then the user has to click on ‘Submit’
8) After successful submission of this form, a consolidated e-Way Bill will come up on the screen. It will have a consolidated e-Way Bill number.

How to cancel a consolidated e-Way Bill?
• Under the ‘Consolidated EWB’ tab, you have to select the ‘Cancel Consolidated EWB’ option
• Thereafter, a screen will appear where the Consolidated e-Way Bill number has to be entered. The user has to click on ‘’Go’’.
• Then, the consolidated e-Way Bill will come up with an option to cancel.
It should be kept in mind that no further changes can be made to a consolidated Digital e Way Bill after it has been cancelled.

How to update vehicle number in a Consolidated e Way Bill?
• Under the ‘Consolidated EWB’ tab, a person has to select a sub-section called ‘Vehicle Update’
• Thereafter, a person has the option of choosing the info option by which he/she wants to view the consolidated e-Way Bill – ‘Consolidated EWB No’ or ‘Generated Date’.
• After choosing either of the options and clicking ‘Go’, a list of consolidated e Way Bills will appear on the portal. The user can choose the particular consolidated Electronic Way Bill to update the vehicle number.
• Then, a screen for modification will be displayed and it will have the ‘From Place’ auto-populated.
• The following fields are to be filled up:

1) Mode of Transport (Air, Ship, Road or Rail)
2) Enter Vehicle No.
3) Enter From Place
4) Select From State
5) Select Reason (You have to select in case of transhipment or vehicle breaking down)

If all other details are entered correctly, the vehicle number will get updated to the consolidated e-Way Bill in question.
