Cups of Coffee Consumed Per Day
I love my morning coffee and am in good company as approximately 83% of adults drink coffee in the U.S. That's an average of three cups of coffee consumed per day or 587 million cups. Here are some great ways to recycle all those coffee grounds in exciting and useful ways.
Used Coffee Grounds for Beauty
Exfoliant: Exfoliating with coffee grounds can help stimulate blood flow, promoting healthier and tighter skin. Just add mineral oil or vitami
E oil to old coffee grounds and apply it to your skin with a loofah. You can also simply add used grounds into your usual liquid cleanser to exfoliate.
Facelift: Mix a quarter cup of coffee grounds with one egg white, and then spread the mixture over your face. Let it dry completely and then rub the mask off and rinse your face.
Cellulite Treatment: Mix an egg white with a quarter cup of coffee grounds, warm it up in the microwave, and then spread the gooey concoction on your problem areas. Wrap tightly in saran wrap. The main ingredient in expensive cellulite treatments is always caffeine. This is a great way to put all those cups of coffee consumed per day to great use!
Enhance Hair Color: Add 2 tablespoons of coffee grounds to your shampoo to enhance hair color (brunettes and redheads). Also you can brew a really strong cup of coffee and let it cool. Then saturate dry hair with coffee. Cover hair with a plastic shower cap or bag and let sit for 20 minutes. Then rinse with warm water.

Used Coffee Grounds for Home
Air Freshener: Place grounds in a small candle holder and place a tea light into the grounds. When you light the tea light, you will have a natural coffee air freshener. Can also be made with fresh coffee beans.
Pots and Pans: Use to scrub pots and pans to remove grease, simply add to the bottom of your pan and scrub.
Hand Washing: Rub a scoop of grounds between palms as an exfoliant to remove dead skin and help eliminate smells from foods like fish and garlic.
Fireplace Cleaning: Make cleaning your fireplace easier by sprinkling dampened used coffee grounds in the fireplace before cleaning, which will weigh down the ash and eliminate clouds of dust. Plus, it will just smell nice.
Furniture Scratches: Dip a cotton swab into steeped grounds and dab on scratches in dark wood furniture to minimize them. Just test in an inconspicuous area first.
Used Coffee Grounds for Garden
Pest Control: Coffee has a strong odor which many insects and animals do not like. You can mound grounds into a ring to create a protective border around plants to ward off ants, slugs and rodents.
Compost: Used coffee grounds can be mixed with lye to make compost and you can even throw in the coffee filter to put all those cups of coffee consumed per day to good use.
Fertilizer: Small amounts of coffee grounds can be added directly to top soil, especially on plants that like high acidity in the soil like azaleas, roses, azaleas, rhododendrons, evergreens, camellias, and hydrangeas. Coffee is high in nitrogen, calcium, magnesium, potassium and other trace minerals, spreading around a thin layer of coffee grounds on your soil will allow a slow release of these minerals into your plants. Note: Tomatoes do not like coffee!
