Amlodipine Medicine for the Treatment of High Blood Pressure

Amlodipine is a drug which belong to a group of drug of calcium channel blockers. This medication can be taken alone or with other medicine. Amlodipine medicine is used to treat high blood pressure, hypertension, chest pain etc. High blood pressure may lead to not proper functioning of arteries and heart. With this, it can damage the heart, kidneys and blood vessels of the brain which further may convert into heart attack, stroke and kidney failure. High blood pressure increases the risk of heart attack. Amlodipine helps in flowing the blood more easily by relaxing blood vessels. Adults and children who are 6 years old can take this medication as per the advice of the doctor.

Dosage recommended to use Amlodipiner
You should take this medicine with a glass of water with or without food once in a day. For adults dosage recommended is 5-10mg and for children .25-5mg in a day taken daily. Do not increase or decrease your dose on your own, your doctor adjust your dose according to your medical conditions or requirements.

Before using Amlodipine medicine inform your doctor if you have liver diseases or congestive heart failure. If you are taking any medicine for the treatment of blood pressure or heart problem tell your doctor before taking Amlodipine and also if you are allergic to Amlodipine . What should i do if i missed a dose?
Doctor always advise their patient to take medicine at the same time each day, so that one should not miss dose. But, if you missed your dose take it as soon as you remember. If it is time for next dose, skip your missed dose and continue with your schedule. Do not take extra dose to make up with the missed dose as it may cause some serious side effects.

Side effects of Amlodipiner
Amlodipine may cause some common to serious side effects. Some common effects are headache, feeling sleepy, feeling depressed, feeling nervous, feeling giddy, reddening of skin, feeling of vomit, pain in the stomach, appetite loss, irregular bowel movements, change in the frequency of urination, sleep disorder, pain in the muscles, rashes on the skin, increase or decrease in weight, dryness in mouth and some serious side effects are jaundice, pain in the chest, feeling weak, swollen hands, face, feet and irregular heart beat.
