In any business there are four factors of production. These are; land, labor, capital and entrepreneurs. All these factors have their own unique rewards for the service they give in the production. For example land will earn rent, labor wages, capital interest and entrepreneurs would earn profit. Of all these factors, it is labor, also known as employees who are most complicated. You realize that they are human beings with emotions and unlike machines they are have feelings. Their production and efficiency depends greatly on individuals. Each one is very unique.
It follows that it is very important for any business to recognize its employees and their distinguished service in the business. This will boost their morale and therefore the productivity. It will make them own the business and its processes. One way of recognizing employees is through verbal complements. Congratulating employees when they excel in their fields of work is a form of verbal compliment. Another way of recognizing employees is through giving them awards during formal sessions such as annual general meeting of the organization. Reward such as trophies, jewelery, gold rings and diamond rings are very classic rewards to the employees. They will forever keep them as a show and reminder of their hard work in the organization. Whenever they wear them they will proudly do so. It also servers as a motivator to the other employees who did not get them to work hard so as to achieve them.
Failure to recognize employees can be very counter productive, they feel neglected and useless beast of work that are only needed to produce for the business. This can have very negative effects for business. For one, the employees themselves will start resenting the business and talking ill of it. This disease might spread to customers themselves who will start viewing the business from a different perspective. This I tell you can lead to customers leaving the business in big numbers leading to loss of sales to the business. The ripple effect of this is that the company will realize less profit.
Rewarding of employees therefore can boost the sales of the company a great deal. Once they are satisfied and own the process themselves, they become the salesmen number one of the company’s products. Their happy mood and satisfaction will send a good signal to the customers and the public in general. Rewarding employees also creates a happy and satisfied family of employees. Rewards such as promotions will make them more loyal to the business curbing high employee turn out rate. Rewarding also server to nature and horn their skills for the better.
Employee service recognition and reward is a very vital component in business. Every business should try very hard to recognize its employees whenever they excel. This will also boost the image of the business in the market and probably give it a competitive edge against the others. It is no surprise it may just start attracting talent from other businesses. Never ignore your employees. They may just be the reason why your business will succeed of fail.
