AN IMPORTANT “YES, BUT...” CAVEAT OF BALANCE BEING AN ASPIRATION POINT

nn For much of my life I have faithfully bought into the total virtue of the ‘golden mean’ of balance between extremes being the only way to go. This safe road has generally worked out to my benefit, except to rob me of some potential excitement and joy with the few things to which we should all let go, close our eyes, hold our breath, and jump in with all fours.

Of course the more important loss is the many areas we should exercise a definite preference for and lean towards the right side of the equation, like having more hope than not, expressing more positive emotions and than negative ones, giving more than taking, being more optimistic than pessimistic, being more altruistic than egotistic, and making more effort to fit in first before trying to change everything from the outside-in.

I think what is happening with me these days in the evolution of my own consciousness is happening in the world all around me and it is great news. There is a major change adrift—no, mega transformation thoughtquake—that is taking us in an entirely new direction, probably to an unknown territory without a map. The new journey involves moving away from a status quo approach of acknowledging known pain points and selling sensible solutions, to provoking an acknowledgment of previously unacknowledged angst and seeing the insights necessary to start noticing what we have been failing to notice all along and see past what we have bee looking at for too long.

Personally, I think the current information overload has allowed this change to surface for us all to see, because it is the right time to figure out and do what matters most. And what matters most today, is clearing the way to see the benefit of this change that is going on, probably brought about by the Information Age itself. Sometimes problems do come packaged with solutions.

So, a reverse process is to do the following things to simplify your approach to life, regarding the striving for balance idea, and get better results:

  • First, identify the few things that you are willing to stake your life on—the ones you need to fully embrace like there are no tomorrows, and then closing your eyes, holding your breath, letting go and jumping in with all fours without any hesitation or looking back.
  • Next identify the main things on which you should be leaning in one direction or the other as your aspiration point.
  • Finally settle for a reasonable attempt to work your way in between extremes to reside at a healthier place of balance, for all the things that are left over.

Sound simple? Yes it is, but as usual, it is actually easier done said than said. It is the over-thinking about it that slows you down. Go ahead though; what do you have to lose? It is the most sensible way to avoid the treadmill trap, unload your overload and join the zero-gravitation revolution. It is the most effective reality repair tool to use and be successful in getting the most from doing what matters most. nnnn
