The creation of Angels

Humbled by the vastness of the creation, I gazed at the various planets and stars trough the newly designed Hubble telescope. And for a moment in time I explored the universe through the Hubble's eye, and witnessed the most dangerous, spectacular and mysterious depths of the cosmos. Entangled by thoughts of both admiration and fear, my mind recalls a scripture in the oldest book in the Holy Bible...

Job 38:4 Where were you when I created the earth? Tell me, since you know so much!
Job 38:5 Who decided on its size? Certainly you'll know that! Who came up with the blueprints and measurements?
Job 38:6 How was its foundation poured, and who set the cornerstone,
Job 38:7 while the morning stars sang in chorus and all the angels shouted praise?
Job 38:8 And who took charge of the ocean when it gushed forth like a baby from the womb

It struck me with an immense surprise when I realized that, long before the creation of the galaxies, or the earth, and even long before God created the sun and the stars, God created the angelic beings.
These mystical beings have no blood circulation in their veins; they don’t need oxygen to stay alive, they are immortal beings with the gift of self-containing life. Each angel was created and designed for a purpose; each with a mind of greater capacity and ability than human minds. Just like humans; angels have their one personality and are capable to reason, to think and to make decisions.
Each angel has a specifically assigned mission, to accomplish.

The purpose of Angels

God created angels to be servants, not only servants to God, but to the whole God family. His plan for them is to be, agents, helpers and ministers to and with the entire creation... Some superior angels are involved in the very administration and government (the kingdom) of God. Angels serve a great function in the establishing of Christ’s church, and needless to say the purpose of humanity. Some angels serve as ministers to us, helping us to understand the salvation plan of God. Other angels are here to protect us, and to guide us. Some are here to serve in the great invisible army of God, to protect humanity, from spiritual as well as physical enemies.

In some sense angels are superior to human beings.

Angels are immortal beings, and were here before the creation of the physical earth and galaxies.
Therefore they know more about humanity, how we function, how we think, and how we will react....
They have watched and learned all the activities of mankind and their power and knowledge is far superior to humans.
2 Peter 2:11 Even angels, their superiors in every way, wouldn't think of throwing their weight around like that, trying to slander others before God`. Hebrews 2:7 For some little time You have ranked him lower than and inferior to the angels; You have crowned him with glory and honor and set him over the works of Your hands, [Ps. 8:4-6.] Hebrews 2:8 For You have put everything in subjection under his feet. Now in putting everything in subjection to man, He left nothing outside [of man's] control. But at present we do not yet see all things subjected to him [man]. Hebrews 2:9 But we are able to see Jesus, Who was ranked lower than the angels for a little while, crowned with glory and honor because of His having suffered death, in order that by the grace (unmerited favor) of God [to us sinners] He might experience earth for every individual person.

In some sense they are here as servants, and in some sense they are higher ranked than man in the invisible government of God. Their duty is to serve the creation in whichever manner God seems fit, as servants, messengers, soldiers, and even ministers to men....

Angels and their tasks

God assigned angels to look after His children.

Acts 12:6 Then the time came for Herod to bring him out for the kill. That night, even though shackled to two soldiers, one on either side, Peter slept like a baby. And there were guards at the door keeping their eyes on the place. Herod was taking no chances! Acts 12:7 Suddenly there was an angel at his side and light flooding the room. The angel shook Peter and got him up: "Hurry!" The handcuffs fell off his wrists.
Acts 12:8 The angel said, "Get dressed. Put on your shoes." Peter did it. Then, "Grab your coat and let's get out of here." Acts 12:9 Peter followed him, but didn't believe it was really an angel--he thought he was dreaming. Acts 12:10 Past the first guard and then the second, they came to the iron gate that led into the city. It swung open before them on its own, and they were out on the street, free as the breeze. At the first intersection the angel left him, going his own way.

God assigned angels to protect the little children

Matthew 18:10 Beware that you do not despise or feel sco
ful toward or think little of one of these little ones, for I tell you that in heaven their angels always are in the presence of and look upon the face of My Father Who is in heaven.

God assigned angels to keep us safe

Psalm 91:11 For He will give His angels [especial] charge over you to accompany and defend and preserve you in all your ways [of obedience and service].
Psalm 91:12 They shall bear you up on their hands, lest you dash your foot against a stone.
To walk through the earth and report back to Him

Zechariah 4:10 Who [with reason] despises the day of small things? For these seven shall rejoice when they see the plummet in the hand of Zerubbabel. [These seven] are the eyes of the Lord which run to and fro throughout the whole earth. [Rev. 5:6.] Zechariah 4:11 Then I said to him [the angel who talked with me], What are these two olive trees on the right side of the lampstand and on the left side of it?

God assigned angels to supervise and protect the church.

God assigned twelve angels to be gatekeepers in the New Jerusalem

The angel Gabriel – sent as a messenger

The angel Michael - the angelic prince

Daniel 11:1 ALSO I [the angel], in the first year of Darius the Mede, even I, stood up to confirm and to strengthen him [Michael, the angelic prince].

Interesting facts...

1. Some angels have fallen because of lust
2. Some angels rebel against the salvation plan of God and refuse to bow down to men.
3. Angels were here before the creation of the earth and before human beings.
4. They are here to serve God, and humanity.
