Antibiotics do not work anymore

One of the most innovative industries that we all so depend on in one way or the other is the pharmaceutical industry. There are so many top notch medical products that we've seen over the years as a result of the qualitative and consistently innovating processes in the pharmaceutical market. However, one worrying thing is that the antibiotics are beginning to lose their effectiveness and several clinical studies are continuing to prove this.

What exactly is the problem?

rnPathogenic organisms do everything they can to survive just like all other living things. In a bid to overcome the threat posed to them by these antibacterial drugs that are used, the bacteria begin to adapt to the environment. Some particular disease causing bacteria might have subtle or little genetic differences amongst them, these differences create different levels of vulnerability to the antibacterial drugs. Meaning, some bacteria could either be more or less vulnerable to the same antibiotics used in the treatment of a particular infection. Good for the human race, medical professionals and researchers have begun to understand and treat the peculiarities of the different bacteria. By this, we they produce very powerful antibiotics that are able to treat infections while avoiding the stubborn resistance of the bacteria. However, even the efficiency of these intense antibacterial drugs is still diminishing year on year and it is worrisome. Researches and doctors alike claim it is as a result of unreasonable and long-term use of these antibiotics that have made them adapt in one way or the other to the drugs. One thing we know for sure is that until the bacteria are killed completely, the antibiotics cannot be said to have been effective. But a lot of patients are known to buy drugs without prescription and usually don't also follow the instructions given for the use of the drugs. One of the mistakes that allow these bacteria create resistance is when patients prematurely end treatment. When this happens, the bacteria aren’t neutralized and they have a chance to create resistance to those particular antibiotics. The next time the drug is taken, the potency of the drug might have dropped. Essentially, this is one way efficiency of drugs is lowered by the incorrect use. Thus increasing resistance by bacteria to antibiotics continues to increase and quite soon all bacteria could become resistant. This trend threatens not only our ability to treat infections but also the whole of the pharmacotherapy process. So many processes require the use of the antibiotics including common surgeries and even little wounds. While the regular person on the street may not realize the weight of the problems we face, medical professionals the world over are aware that numerous pathogenic organisms can now easily resist the effects of antibiotics.

What is the solution?

Before that, it is important to know that there are two major reasons why antibiotics don't work as much as they do any longer • New and innovative drugs are not available or forthcomingrn• Antibiotics and intensive drugs are used either excessively or incorrectly While we know and understand the second reason, the lack of innovative antibacterial drugs is a responsibility of the pharmaceutical research industry. Although there are lots and lots of antibiotics available on the market, a whole bunch of them are similar. There might be some little differences in additional molecules or internal structures but they are essentially still identical drugs. Patients, after consulting a doctor, always remember too to read instructions carefully after buying the antibiotics if not many antibacterial drugs might not be able to help you in a few years. The lack of significant innovation in the pharmaceutical industry means that the products produced years ago are still similar to those produced more recently and there's a call for doctors to help create new antibiotics; those that have not been used before and might be able to help deal with intensive infections.
