With Father’s Day coming up this Sunday, people across the country begin the search for the perfect gift that shows Dad just how much they care. But have you ever wondered where the tradition of Father’s Day began? While the idea of “Father’s Day” has many proponents, credit for what we now recognize as the official Father's Day goes to Sonora Smart Dodd, of Spokane Washington. She invented her own celebration of Father's Day to honor her Dad, a Civil War veteran and single parent who raised 6 children. She was inspired after hearing a Mother’s Day sermon and she started raising awareness for a similar holiday honoring Fathers. Initially she intended the celebration to fall on her father’s birthday that year, June 5, 1910, but delays in organizing the event pushed back the first celebration to June 19, the third Sunday of June. Her efforts resulted in the introduction of a bill recognizing it as a national holiday in 1913. However, it wasn’t until 1966 that the first presidential proclamation was issued honoring fathers and designating the third Sunday in June as Father’s Day and in 1972 it became a law. Today there are many popular gifts to get dad, but a growing trend are mail order steaks. America has a long tradition of grilling out during the summer especially during the Father’s Day weekend. Just in time for such a grand event Chicago Steak Company, the premier provider of USDA Prime Steaks, Fresh Seafood, and Cheesecakes that are served in America’s finest restaurants, has launched a number of Father’s Day specials. Mike Ditka, a famed retired NFL Coach and owner of Ditka’s restaurants, says a Chicago Steak Company steak is “The best I’ve ever had. You’ll never find a better steak anywhere.” With reviews like that, it’s sure to bring a smile to dads face. Chicago Steak Company continues the long and rich tradition of delivering Mid-Western Corn-Fed USDA Prime, Black Angus, and Premium USDA Choice steaks to homes and businesses across America. Chicago Steak Company has announced a Father’s Day special any dad would love. It has been said “Any man can be a father. It takes someone special to be a dad.” So do yourself a favor, show your dad you care and get these steak-a-licious gifts for your dad. You can find more details at www.MyChicagoSteak.com/fathers-day.asp. No matter what item you choose you can be assured they are the best because Chicago Steak Company only offers upper two-thirds USDA Choice and USDA Prime steaks. The highest grade you can buy, USDA Prime, represents only 2-3% of all American beef. However, because only a small portion of all US beef earns this grade, and demand for it is so high, many beef sellers are unable to offer it. More than likely, if it’s not labeled USDA Prime – it’s no
