The BBC has recently got its journalist Brian Milligan to do a 484 miles journey from the English capital of London to the Scottish capital of Edinburgh. The journey was done in an all electric Mini to highlight the feasibility and advantages of electric motoring. The journalist’s report has not been met with joy from industry experts, questioned have been asked as to why the Mini was chosen. The all electric Mini is not a publicly available model; it is still undergoing major testing and will not be ready for retail customers for a while yet.rnAs we all know, electric cars are built for short journeys and city driving rather than 484 miles of motorway driving, its best to leave that sort of mileage to a contract hire A4. So, the fact that Milligan was quite negative about the charging levels and charging points has angered many pundits who believe the report was unfair and not a true reflection on electric cars’ performance. Editor of a green website Ben Lane wrote, “While electric vehicles do not suit all journeys, recent trials have shown that they are ideal for regular city trips and commuting. No-one is suggesting that they are the vehicle of choice for crossing the country or for trips more than 100 miles. To prove a point, a driver from the Tesla Motors Club will drive the same route in an electric Tesla sports car with the aim of proving the true capabilities of electric vehicles.
