Apple's New Mac OS Brings iOS Functions
Apple plans to bring the function of iPhone and iPad to Mac computer, Apple CEO Tim Cook hopes that they can bring some iOS functions to Mac.
Tim Cook, the CEO of Apple, shows reporters the latest Mac OS when he answers question from reporters. This new Mac OS integrates many functions from Apple's mobile devices, including Messages, Notes, Reminders, Game Center and iCloud service. The functions of iOS in iPhone and iPad are brought to the latest Mac OS X.
The latest Mac OS is called Mac OS X Mountain Lion. Its come out is a signal of that Apple will bring mobile, notebook and desktop computer together and becoming one device. Apple will push this trend to a bright future.
The 52 years old CEO said that many iOS users like many apps of iOS and if it is possible, they will bring them to Mac platform. Apple will provide the developer version of the new Mac OS Mountain Lion and the final version will available to users by the end of this Summer.
Apple publish its latest Mac OS just at the moment that hardware producer expends their field into software development, which provide the same experience on different devices. This leads that different devices become one.
Tim Cook thinks that iOS and Mac OS are single system with new functions. And notebook and tablet PC will coexist for a long time, however, he said that there is also a chance that this two devices becoming one. When being asked if the iPhone, iPad and Mac would use the same Microprocessor chip, he said that they will think all the aspects and they will not lose every change to do that.
Apple's Mac OS X team has already brought iOS function to Mac OS. In the Mac OS X Lion last summer, their Mac touchpad is really like the iOS gestures touch. And the they arranged the icon just like the iPhone's.
With Mac OS X Mountain Lion, when user slide the touchpad, they will see the same notice as you do that on iPhone. Apple's new operation system deeply integrates other Apple products, such as iCloud. The new "GateKeeper" will allow uses set the type of the apps they install, Mac App Store is included in the list.
The new OS will support "AirPlay", it allows users to watch videos/movies and other contents from iPhone, iPad and also Apple TV. AirPlay is really an important strategy for Apple, which gives living room and new video tech an important position. AirPlay now can be used on iPhone and iPad. However, it is disliked by media company, because it shares the influence of traditional TV. Analyst said that users uses AirPlay on Mac will not influence of TV field.
Apple sells 5.2 millio
Mac computer in 2012 fiscal year, increasing 26% than last year. According to the IDC's data, Mac takes up 5.4% of the total PC sales in the last quarter in last year, a little higher than 2010's 4.5%. And although Apple has its new income record, Mac only takes a small part. Apple's income increases 73%, but Mac's income decreases to 14.2% from 20.3% in the first quarter.
Tim Cook said that Mac is still an important part of Apple. Iphone's success brings many good news for Mac, such as in China. Apple's income of Mac in China increase 100% last year. He also points out that Microsoft can not bring any pressure to Apple. Apple keeps focus on product development, it's pressure only come from themselves.
Although Tim Cook refuses to talk about the future of Mac, he expresses his pride of MacBook Air. He said that many producers try to copy MacBook Air, but they will find it is difficult.
