Are baby jumpers really safe for babies?
Are baby jumpers safe or unsafe?
There are many verities of baby jumper available in the market, and we cannot say that they all are good or safe for your baby’s potential health. In fact, some professionals are warning about the additional safety facts of the jumper your baby using every day or couple of days in a week. rnEven I read an article recently named ‘Ten things not to buy for your baby’ list here they forbid the uses baby jumpers. They said, “In the doorway jumpers, the door clamps can break which cause your baby fall on the ground. Also, the older kids can cause harm by pushing the jumper from the doorway. ” Another article from Dr. Steven Cannon, who is a family chiropractor of Neurohealth Chiropractic in northern Sydney. He put the Jolly doorway jumper at the top of the list of baby equipment to avoid and recommend to not using anything like it. rnHowever, beside of those entire negative expects I also found some ray of hope. Like this one, “it is all about being balanced from left to right and front to back. The problem comes out due to misbalancing” said Dr. Cannon. That means if your jumper can maintain proper balance its fine to use as fun equipment. So, it appears that baby jumpers are safe, as long as they can maintain the proper balance while bouncing.Baby jumpers for kids and moms
Like I said earlier, we have a doorway jumper as a life saver and till now it is doing great. I was worried about the door clamps, so I replaced it with a strong clip and added a bar to fix the jumper permanently. It is now in between my kitchen and the baby’s room. So I can watch him when I m in the kitchen. For my boy, I can say the jumper give him a whole new view or his surrounded world and his very own test of freedom. Now he can jump himself, try to move left and right act like walking and play with the toys. His jumper comes with some ring and toys which are equally perfect for play with. However, I had to replace them with some tether. When his baby tooth came out, he uses to chew them so I thought tether could be great for this time. Technically I cannot explain how relieved with my ninja skilled guy since the day I put him on the jumper. I and I guess the jumper is pretty good on balancing like the Dr. Cannon recommended. I have a friend who is pediatric, and he also said the jumper of mine is in the excellent condition. He also added that I should let the baby play with it more than 20 minutes. Unless it could delay his solo walking. Some safety tips when you are using a jumper
Here I like to add some piece of advice that I learned from my experience and also find while researching. I obey them from the beginning and till now always trying to maintaining them. • If you are planning to have doorway jumper like mine, carefully select the door frame that can support the weight of a bouncing child. Also, not all jumpers go with every door so keep that in mind and read carefully the instruction given by the manufacturer. • See the height, weight and age recommendation of a jumper. It should be matched with your baby and for the upcoming month of weight. • Safety harness, elastic straps or spring are also a crucial part to consider. Besides of having single straps go for 3/4 elastic straps that usually don’t get tangles. Many doorway jumpers give the facility of twisted free straps in their models. • When you are shopping from online, it is hard to know either it will fit perfectly or not in the jumper seat. So have that one which has the height or fitting adjusting features. It is important to fit and strap the baby into the harness so he could not fall while jumping. • If the jumper does not fit properly return it or ask for a replacement. • Teach the bigger baby’s of your house not to push the jumper when the baby on is in the jumper. • Ensure secure straps or lace and keep checking them once in a month to avoid accidents. Conclusion
In my point of view, the jumper could be proven a better equipment if you know what to expect and how to use it. During the pre-walking time baby is need to have something that could give him a chance to play freely. So, make sure you are selecting the quality jumper with proper balance and not using them not more than 15-20 minutes. Using a baby jumper is safe until you are moderate, careful and well informed about your jumper as the best baby stroller.Further reading
