Just by giving your designer radiators a new coat of paint you can completely revive your home, making it look fresh and clean. Depending on what sort of radiators you have, the method you use to paint them will vary. Due to the fact that radiators come in all different shapes and sizes and can be made from a variety of different material, the methods used to paint them will vary, this can be seen throughout the range from cast iron radiators to flat panel radiators. rnBefore you start painting you need to make sure your designer radiators are clean and free from dirt and fluff. Do this just by using a cloth and some mild detergent with warm water. If you dont want your radiators to look bad you should use special metal paint as other paint and become discoloured which will not be desirable. It would also be wise to make sure that the paint is not going to react badly with the heat from the radiators. You should take proper precautions and make sure you properly protect your floors with dust sheets. Rubbing the radiators with some sandpaper is a good idea if they have been painted before as this will help the paint stick and you will get a better finish.rnThe best time to paint your designer radiators is when they are warm. Make sure they arent too hot though. These tips will make the process run a lot more smoothly and give you some excellent end results. You will get the best effect from using special tools and brushes when painting your radiators. By using vertical brush strokes in line with the grooves of the radiator you will get an excellent finish. However this does not apply for all types of radiators as there are many different designs such as cast iron radiators and flat panel radiators. Try painting the radiators in sections; this will make the process a bit easier. In order to get the smoothest finish and ensure there are no drips of paint on your radiators you should make sure that you do not overload your brush or roller with paint. If you use a long handled brush or a roller then you should be able to reach the harder areas such as the backs of the radiators with a lot more ease. rnIt is important that you make sure you have let your radiators dry properly too. If you are not satisfied with the end result then you can always give it a second coat. Now you are happy with the results and the paint is completely dry you can turn your radiators back on and enjoy. You will probably notice quite a pungent paint odour the first few times you have the radiators on but dont worry as this will fade in time.rnNo matter which designer radiators you are painting, whether it be traditional cast irons radiators or flat panel radiators, these handy tips will come in useful when you decide to paint them.
