The term past life regression can be traced back to its origin in the Upanishads of Hinduism, the teachings of which are enunciated in the Vedas and Epics of Hindu religion. The concept karma (cause and effect law) is the foundation on which ancient Hindu mythology explains the obvious discrepancies in people’s life on this earth. Until a few decades ago, the belief on rebirth, reinca ation, sins and benevolence were dismissed as old-fashioned and unconventional. However, the truth is that tides are turning in favour of accepting this logic when one begin to question the palpable ways that human life is a joy to some whereas a curse to so many others. To analyse whether experiences of past life regression therapy could be true or not, we need to first understand if there is indeed some past life. This can be best deduced from the fact that a new born baby whether human or a calf, behaves exactly as it is expected to behave. So, there is some intelligent programming that comes with us automatically in the form of traits as our pioneers in genetic engineering would agree. Similarly, there seems to be a warehouse of past impressions and experiences imprinted in our mind that form the basis of our characteristics, behaviour, wisdom etc. No two siblings from the same family of parents and similar environment have similar lives or present life experiences. This can be explained by the fact that they come with different inte al programming based on their past karmas. To decide whether past life visions and experiences as reported by thousands across the globe, can be true or not, it needs a little understanding of the working of the human mind and its two levels of existence namely conscious and unconscious or subconscious mind. Just like the last thought before we fall asleep becomes the first thought when waking up, the impressions of the previous births on the mind could be automatically available in the current birth. Add to this the rule of wheel of rebirth which enunciates that until this speck of energy (called the mind) is free from all impressions whatsoever, it gains birth again and again. As a result we could have a dormant storehouse of imprints at the subconscious level from all previous births (both good and bad) and hence results in the unique mind power that we all attribute ourselves to. Hence the rekindling of these deeply ingrained impressions in the subconscious mind could be possible with specific techniques of hypnotism and suggestion. While detractors argue that regression essentially plays out in the mind, it could be tricks played by the mind and could just be figments of one’s imagination. However, if this was true, by probability logic, recalling of different visions and experiences should be the norm. But research proves otherwise. Most patients are able to recall specific incidences from repeated visits to the same earlier life. Last but not the least, endorsing past life regression therapy experiences as true or not depends on how deep one would like to delve into this unexplored provinces of human mind, alleged to be a mere speck out of the ubiquitous Cosmic mind, the very fabric behind this ete al dream called life!
