If you want to get a tattoo done, then surely you’ve been considering custom tattoo designs. Are they really expensive? This thought must be dogging you as you decide not to assume the responsibility of being a tattoo artist, even though you’re considered a good artist. Similarly, you want to spend your money judiciously by not giving in to commonly held myths about tattoos. So, what are these myths? Myth #1: Only a well-known tattoo shop in a large city can give you a good custom tattoo design. High fashion and expensive tattoo shops, as shown in TV shows, gave credence to this myth. However, there’s no truth in this myth because it’s possible to have a good tattoo done anywhere, since there are good tattooists everywhere. Once you have a design made, it can be taken to a local tattoo shop and inked by a skilled tattooist. If you did believe in this myth, you would have the additional costs of time and of traveling to a large city. Myth #2: The cheaper your tattoo design, the better. This is the surest way of losing money really fast. In fact, the proverb, ‘You get what you pay for,’ works well here, if you consider that by having a design inked on your body, it will remain with you forever. For instance, you want to have a tattoo inked on your face and so you search for the most inexpensive designer for the job. These designers are inexpensive because if they were in great demand, they would be expensive and consequently would need to do less work because of the high quality of their designs. Surely, you don’t want to be in a position where you are forced to pay big money to remove a badly done tattoo—all so that you can save some money at the outset. In the long run, you’ll end up paying much more in money, and you might just damage your skin, too. Myth #3: If you allow someone to prevent you from holding an online custom design contest, you’ll end up paying a lot of money. Often, this is the most economical method of having a tattoo inked, because here you set the price of the tattoo based on your affordability and the level of the artist you want to draw in to your contest. However, if you give a local design shop a tattoo to ink, they will charge you based on the shop’s charges, the artist’s profit margins and the time taken to do the tattoo. It could also be based on how busy the artists are when you enter the shop. If you go to a very popular shop, they could charge more than others. If you host a web-based custom design contest, international participating artists will present over 10 ideas for you to choose from in a two-week period. The moment you select a design, the creator of it is paid for it and you can have it inked on your body by paying the shop according to the size of the design.
