How often do you eat fast food? If you said a lot you may want to read this essay. You may think you are getting a good, healthy meal when you eat fast food but you are only filling your body with fat, sugar, and salt. Just remember that just because food tastes good does not mean it is good for you! Do you ever eat fries at a fast food restaurant? Are they usually chewy? Well if you said yes, they are most likely filled with lots of grease. Potatoes are like sponges so they absorb everything they touch. The longer they sit in the friars that cook them the more grease they absorb and the worse stomach aches you get. The acids in your stomach are not strong enough to digest all of the grease. Do you still think fast food is healthy? If you said yes, then keep reading. When you think of fast food does the word “yum” come to your mind? How about candy? Well probably because they have three ingredients in common: FAT, SUGAR and SALT. All of these things are really bad for your body because they come from the same food group, the fat and oils group. The servings recommended for this food group are very small so one fast food meal is already going over a healthy diet which will cause you to gain weight, no matter how much you workout or how good of shape you are in. All of the salt is bad for your heart. The sugar causes you to feel weak. Finally, the fat makes you…..well, fat - and no one wants any of those things. So stop while you can, but keep reading this... And last but not least, all of the preservatives in the food make it look fresh no matter how old it is. If you want an example, once a fast food burger and a homemade burger sat out for a few weeks and while the homemade burger rotted in a few days it took weeks for the fast food burger to rot because the preservatives kept it fresh, or at least looking fresh. So how do you know the food you eat is fresh? You don’t eat fast food and you make it yourself. Do you still think that fast food is healthy? I didn’t think so. Stop when you can and stay healthy. If you can stop for a month, you will never go back and you will continue a healthy life. So remember that just because food tastes good does not mean it is good for you.
