Having alternative fundraising ideas for schools can help ensure that different methods of raising money are being used. By using various methods of fundraising, a school can become more efficient thus raising more money. Some types of fundraisers are season specific, so alternatives must be found during the "out-of-season" period. Other fundraisers have become very popular, so more schools in the area are trying the same thing. If your school wants to be different from the rest, here are several fundraising ideas for schools that you should consider. Organising sporting events to raise money can be very effective. Planning a school walk, dance, skating event, marathons, bike events and more; can bring spectators who will pledge their money, to sponsor the events. Sporting events can be planned relatively free, and since many schools have stadiums or football fields, hosting the event at the school will be very convenient as well. Having a book fair is another alternative fundraising idea that always seems to bring good results. Since schools contribute to and encourage learning, a book fair fits "hand-in-glove" with the ideals of most schools. Book fairs can be held at any time of the school year, regardless of the season. Selling promotional items can be an excellent way to raise money for a school. Items such as bumper stickers, hats, t-shirts, pens, magnets, key chains, water bottles and other products with a printed school logo, can help raise money as well as raise awareness of the school and community. Book reading contests are very effective for raising money as a school. Contests can be held that require the family members to seek sponsors who pay money to the students based on the amount of books that each one reads. Another good plan of the fundraising ideas for schools is having the students sell raffle tickets to friends, family, associates and the community. These raffle tickets can be sold for prizes such as movie tickets, gift cards, restaurant dinner vouchers, electronic gadgets and more! Many times, a person purchases more than one raffle ticket at a time, to increase the chances of winning. Raffle tickets should definitely be on the list of desired fundraising ideas. Asking parents to contribute a donation to the school can be really helpful in raising money for schools. When asked during the beginning of the school year, many parents may be more willing to donate since they haven't yet given money during that school year. Allowing the parents the option to pay in a lump sum, or to pay upfront, will increase the chances of more parents donating due to the payment flexibility.
