Marriage is a serious commitment that one must truly decide if it's the best thing for them. With over 50% of marriages ending in divorce, many people don't want to take that chance and risk being hurt, having their family torn apart (especially if they have kids), or even have a good portion or half of their finances potentially taken away from them. However, marriage can be the best thing for others, a great step up from their serious relationship, and a way to make their relationship "official".

But before you decide to get married there are some things to consider....

#1. Do you feel as though your partner is Mr. or Ms. Right? It's a wonderful thing when people find their soul mate, the person they've always wanted to be with, or simply the right one for them. So if you feel as though the person that you're with is truly the person you would want to marry, you've weathered through the storms in your relationship, and you feel confident that whether times are good or they're bad that you can still picture yourself growing old with him/her, then you should make the big commitment.

#2. Are you financially ready? It's a fact that money is one of the biggest reasons for an argument in most marriages- yet many couples don't talk about about finances beforehand. It's important for you two to discuss how you will be supporting yourselves.. especially if kids are involved. And have a pla
B just in case pla
A doesn't work out.

#3. Are you on the same page when it comes to kids? If he/she want's kids (or more kids) and you don't, it could be a problem. Compromise is important in relationships, but this may not be something that one of you may be willing to budge on... or be happy with after a decision is made. Make sure that the two of you are on the same page when it comes to kids.

#4. Are you sexually compatible? If the person that you're with is someone that you plan to spend the rest of your life with, make sure that the two of you click in the bedroom. Nothing is more frustrating, when it comes to sex, than having a partner you're not sexually compatible with.

#5. Did you consider each others religion? Religion is a great thing. And when two people share the same religion, very few things can make a bond stronger. It's a deep spiritual connection that you may share with your partner that can set standards and respect within the household. However, if you two are not on the same page when it comes to religion, things can be a disaster. You may argue over certain holidays, for example, and it can cause a major issue in your relationship. So make sure that you understand where you both stand when it comes to this topic.
It's important that you and your partner are on the same page when it comes to all major topics. And if you feel as though you truly do want to be with you partner for the rest of your life (or at the least a significant amount of time), then get married, have good communication, and make it a goal each day to focus on making each other happy.
