Does it seem that you can't get ahead in life no matter how hard you try? Do things stay the same or move forward at the pace of a tranquilized sloth? Why does this happen? Why are you still struggling despite your best efforts?
So many are looking for the magic answer or that secret tip that will propel them from point A to point Z ove
ight. That's why weight loss products and get-rich-quick schemes are a billion-dollar market. The truth is though, it doesn’t work that way. You probably don't expect instant results but you do want to see some results for your efforts, right? Then why is your life stubbornly stuck?
Whether you want to get out of debt, find the love of your life, enjoy a fulfilling career, lose weight, or discover your true purpose in life, until your conscious and subconscious are in alignment you'll continue to struggle. As you go through life you’re in a constant tug-of-war with your conscious mind and the lessons embedded in your subconscious. Unfortunately, your subconscious mind is the one in charge and it's had some faulty programming along the way due to your past. What you grew up with is who you’ve become, like it or not.
Maybe you’re aware that the past has really done a number on you or perhaps you’re totally oblivious. The bottom line is you want things to be different.
The One Track Mind
I was a spiritual counselor for more tha
20 years and in that time saw over and over again how the mind can only handle one big problem and perhaps two small ones at a time. Once that’s taken care of it can move on to something else. For example, I had several clients that had been struggling with their jobs. They wanted to find fulfilling careers, but no matter how many interviews they went on or resumes they sent in they just couldn't find something better. Along with wanting better jobs, they were also struggling with other issues such as weight, relationships, finances, or health. Everything seemed out of reach and it was easy to get frustrated and give up, though they all tried their hardest to make positive life changes. Why is this?
Since their careers were on their mind the conscious and subconscious considered this to be top priority and everything else was pushed aside. What you focus on expands. It doesn’t matter if Mr. or Ms. Right was standing in front of them, they wouldn’t notice this person or would somehow find fault because their minds were in “career mode” and until they did something about it true love, weight loss, and so forth would be difficult, if not impossible, to find. Not to mention all the faulty programming that the subconscious has had. No wonder it's so much easier for people to become numb to life and simply live each day on autopilot.
Getting Where You Want To Be
The best way to blast through problems, attract positive opportunities, and make lasting changes is to start asking yourself the right questions. Here’s how to do it:
Step 1: Ask yourself what you really want. So often we say we want a better job, a happier relationship, to lose some weight and make more money. This is too unfocused. Instead, make your intentions very specific so both parts of your brain can get to work on it. for example: "I want to be in a career I love making more than $5,000 a month." Or, "I want to lose 40 pounds within the next six months so I can feel healthier and more energetic."
Step 2: Take your statement and turn it into a question. By putting your desire into question form it leaves you open to wonder rather than being stuck in an endless loop of worry. Example: How can I change my actions and thoughts so I can attract a loving and loyal partner? What small changes can I make daily that will help me get out of debt?
Step 3: Give yourself up to the question. Let your mind take over and work out how you’ll accomplish this goal. Go about your day and see if ideas or information come to you, or you notice new opportunities that you can take advantage of. Many times an answer will come to you in the morning after your subconscious has had time to sleep on it.
Step 4: Take action based on the guidance you receive and be sure to do it. How often have you said to yourself, "Woulda, coulda, shoulda"?
The whole point is to change what your mind automatically focuses on and reroute it to a different reality. Your subconscious is used to doing things the same way every single day, but by shaking things up and doing it differently you can wake up your sleeping mind and actually get the conscious and subconscious to work together so you can finally accomplish your goals.
