Are you willing to evolve your business?

That’s a big question. And it is the question at this moment in time. I keep hearing from people about how it’s time to downsize, to lower our expectations, how we have to make do with less. Or that what they used to do, what used to draw people, just isn’t working any more. Most often these comments come from people who see their industries shrinking, and they respond by shrinking along with them. They look outside of themselves, and say, wow, that’s just the way it is.

And in some senses this is true. Some industries are shrinking. And doing things the same way many times is no longer working. But I really don’t think it’s necessary to go down with the old system. Any time there is a shift, there is also tremendous opportunity. Here at the shift of the ages we are living through a time of opportunity like no other. If you are willing to evolve. If you are willing to do things differently, to innovate, to use your creativity, to tap your Soul’s power and wisdom to truly bring through your gifts and talents in new ways.

Because evolving may not at all be what you think it is. I know that was true for me. I really thought I was on track doing what I was doing. I had developed a way of supporting clients in their soul healing and spiritual growth that led to dramatic and lasting changes in their lives. I felt satisfied and on purpose doing what I was doing. And my business was steady. It was steady, but try what I would, I couldn’t get it to grow beyond a certain point. And I kept asking myself, what am I doing wrong, what else can I do?

What I didn’t realize is that I needed to allow my business to evolve in a new direction. It wasn’t that I was doing anything wrong. In fact I was doing a lot of things right. But I wasn’t really allowing myself to go in the direction my business—and my Soul’s purpose and evolution—was headed. The truth is, some unconscious beliefs were holding me back from seeing what I now know is the obvious evolution of my business.

And when I got it, and turned into the flow of energy, rather than resisting it, I more than quadrupled my contracted business in less than 6 weeks time.

So are you allowing yourself and your business to evolve? Are you tuning into the flow of energy or are you resisting it? Are you trying to make the way you’ve always done things work even though they aren’t any more? Are you actually trying to stay in place—and keep your head above water—when you could be moving somewhere new, more easily, more joyfully?

If you feel like you are struggling, it may be that a new direction or new emphasis is needed. And yes, you probably need to update or up-level your marketing. And you would probably benefit from being around people who are innovating and evolving their businesses. It may also be that your Soul is calling you to the next evolution of your highest calling. And you are resisting it because, well, you like what’s familiar. Or even if you don’t like it, you know it, and you stick with it because you know it.

Take a look at where you are now. Really take a look, and feel into where they energy is moving—and where it is not moving. How can you bring together aspects of your life experience, your gifts and talents, your passions in new and innovative ways? How can this richness that you have to offer help others on their journey? How can what you’ve learned and relished heal and inspire others? You are far more important than you have yet imagined. Are you willing to evolve ~ your business?
