We all know that the sun can be damaging to our eyes. We hear talk of UVA and UVB rays (and even UVC rays may factor into the damage to our eyes), and yet few people actually realise just how easy the sun can start to cause us problems.
The right sunglasses come in very handy when the glare from the sun could cause us issues and, as such, many people will choose to use their sunglasses only for driving or only when the sun is forcing them to squint against it. However, whilst this will help you stay safe on the road and avoid annoying headaches and excessive wrinkles around the eyes, the UVA and UVB rays are still going to be around even when you are not driving.
Yet, even sunglasses might not do all they need to do to protect you from the harmful rays. Cheap sunglasses are likely to help you avoid the glare but will very rarely do much to actually protect you from the worst of the harmful rays.
Whilst the cost of designer sunglasses may seem extreme to some, buying more expensive sunglasses will often not only help you look a great deal better and find frames that truly do suit your face, but the likes of Oakley sunglasses are also simply going to help to protect your eyes far more effectively too.
There are many long term effects of UV exposure, but there are also short term ones which can be just as troublesome. Short term effects of over exposure to UV rays include loss of vision for 24 – 48 hours, something commonly known as snow-blindness. This type of problem is most commonly experienced at altitude, and therefore you will need even better protection from designer sunglasses when high up, whether it is boiling hot or whether you are playing in the snow.
Whenever the sun is out, whether it seems too strong to cope or not, using the likes of high quality Oakley sunglasses over cheaper sunglasses could be extremely important for your vision both in the long term and the short term.
