When I was working as a professional matchmaker for an upscale company in Beverly Hills, the men were the paying clients. The women joined for free as long as they were drop dead gorgeous. The men got a certain amount of introductions promised to them in their contract, usually 12-24 within one year. I was often asked the question, “What if I get into a relationship with the first woman that you introduce me to? Will I not get to use the rest of my membership?”
My answer would be, “Well, then you got exactly what you paid for. You came here to find a partner didn’t you? Would you rather go on twenty-four dates spending at least 100.00 per date with women that you had no chemistry with just to say that you used up your membership? Would you feel that you got your money’s worth doing that rather than hitting a home run on the first time out?” “Oh, I see what you mean, I guess you are right.” Would be the response.
I also had many male clients ask me for new matches when they had not even met the ones that I gave them the previous month. “Is there anyone else?” They would say.
In our society we often think that “more is better” in so many areas of our lives, like portions in restaurants, “friends” on myspace, shoes in our closet and dates in a month. When putting your self out there to attract your soul mate, I invite everyone to take a deep breath, relax and experience what is in front of you before jumping ahead to see what is next or how many people we can mark on or off the list.
