Most of the believers come by their certainties either through personal experience or through subjective evidence. In case you have a dream that eventually comes true and stunningly in similar detail then you might very well consider it as a proof that you have psychic abilities. Moreover if you are hearing enough incredible stories of extrasensory perception or the study of the parallel universe and the parallel worlds from different sources then you might have a harder time discounting this phenomenon. Remember that this world is full of both these types of evidences and most of the people usually encounter the extraordinary coincidences frequently. There are also several well-documented stories of apparent clairvoyance and precognition. There are several examples such as the Futility novel written by Morgan Robertson in 1898 about a huge luxury liner named Titan. This story supposedly came to him in short trance where the ship fastens through dense fog on late April night and crashed into iceberg and sinks along with hundreds of people. Surprisingly, 14 years later the ship named Titanic, similar in size does exactly this and at the same time of the year killing hundreds of people due to the same condition. There are a number of other famous stories and although most are not well documented detail minor and major examples of apparent extra sensory perception throughout the world. However as convincing as these stories might sound to believers they are of limited use to the scientists as they occur in an uncontrolled environment. Therefore regardless of it being a detailed study of the parallel universe and parallel worlds, in order to demonstrate something with solid evidence effectively, scientists need to conduct different structured laboratory experiments with closely controlled conditions. However right from the 1930s parapsychologists from around the world have been do9ing research to know the scientific phenomenon behind these examples of extra sensory perceptions. J.B. Rhine who is called as the father of parapsychology was after one of the most famous and earliest efforts called the Zener cards experiment. The original cards were actually a deck of 25 white cards and each was printed with one of the five simple distinct patterns. So, the deck contained five cards of each patter and so anybody had one in five chances to correctly guess the pattern or a particular card. So, the experiment was quite simple as Rhine just asked his subjects to guess which pattern was on each card and record the results. Therefore on an average random guessing would basically yield five correct guesses per deck of cards. So, he concluded that consistent accuracy above this level except for any cheating indicated extra sensory perception abilities. However still there are several stories that make people believe in the abilities of an extra sensory perception individual. However there are still several parapsychology researchers who claim that their findings indicate the existence of extrasensory perception abilities but skeptics are far from being convinced. The examples have also given rise to several arguments against the claims made with ESP evidences.
