Your body silently communicates with you on a continuous basis in the form of physical sensations or feelings. This is sometimes referred to as the mind/body connection. When you experience physical discomfort like pain, back ache, tightness in your muscles, or tension headaches, your body is alerting you to the fact that something needs to be addressed. The problem may be purely physical, but it could also stem from another, not so obvious, root cause. • I am aware that when I feel stiffness in my neck and shoulders, it's generally either as a result of emotional tension from feeling overwhelmed by a sense of trying to "carry the world", or simply from sitting too long at the computer! • If there is tension in my lower back, I can usually equate it to an emotional reaction of feeling unsupported in some area of my life. • If I am experiencing something where I feel I have no control, my body sometimes reacts by manifesting a "fearful" nervous, jittery tummy. • When I feel threatened due to another person's aggressive behaviour, I experience a primal fight or flight reaction, am tearful and shake like a leaf, until I feel safe and calm once again. If the cause of my discomfort is a physical one like simply sitting in one position too long, I do some yoga stretches, move around and go for a walk to unwind my upper body. However, if the discomfort I am experiencing is due to an emotional issue, I still do some yoga to help my physical body, but I combine it with deep breathing to help me release physical tension, as well as negative thoughts and/or emotions. I then sit quietly with my eyes closed for a few minutes (preferably in nature) focussing on my breath as I visualise breathing in white light to raise my vibration. I still my mind and focus on pure awareness, allowing myself to lovingly release any thoughts that arise that do not serve my highest good. Emotions are an outward expression of our inner feelings. It's all about feelings! When I am feeling centred once again, I contemplate my reaction and try to understand what triggered it so that I can get to the root cause of the problem. The root might not be what I expect and may be connected to something that happened in distant the past. Perhaps something I had forgotten about at the level of my conscious mind. If the emotional upset involves another person, I perform the following beautiful Kahuna forgiveness prayer to release both myself and anyone else involved. I have learned the power of letting go, with love: To anyone that I have harmed in any way, in this life time, in any past or future lifetime, in this dimension or any other dimension – I ask for Grace To anyone that has harmed me in any way, in this life time, in any past or future lifetime, in this dimension or any other dimension – I offer Grace If I have harmed myself in any way, in this life time, in any past or future lifetime, in this dimension or any other dimension – I accept Grace I AM a being of light, from the light, I AM the light, So it is, It is done. Living in the present moment, aware of how we are responding to various stimuli around us helps us to negotiate the route of least effort. When we are uncomfortable with something happening in our lives, we often tend to resist instead of staying in the flow of what happening. Continuing to resist, simply prolongs the "agony" as it were. Its far better to try to understand the reason for our reaction, in that way we can then break the repetitive cycle should a similar situation arise in the future. When we live in the present and are fully aware of our reactions as they happen, we have the opportunity to ask ourselves: "Why am I feeling this?" "What triggered this reaction?" "Is there a better way to handle this?" It is possible to turn a negative reaction into a positive one by seeing the bigger picture and maybe by considering the situation from a different perspective. Sometimes our reaction is unrealistic and the result of our perception of events. It's good to remember that the thoughts and feelings we experience NOW are like vibrational ripples on a pond. We are constantly transmitting these vibrations out into the infinite field of pure potential and thus attracting back to us more of the same vibrations. This is the Law of Attraction in action. This is why it is so important to be aware of our thoughts and feelings NOW, for NOW is all we have. Whatever we think about NOW has an impact on every aspect of our lives and beyond. We are co-creating our lives in every moment and what we think and feel now, really does affect how our lives unfold. Our feelings are an indication of how we are copying moment by moment to the exte
al stimuli in our lives and are also a reminder of the type of vibration we are broadcasting. If we bear this in mind, we can make conscious choices about how to behave, so that we send out a steady wave of high vibrations. By asking yourself every now and again throughout the day "what am I feeling now" you bring yourself back into an awareness of the present moment. It's a reminder to stay centred in the flow of life, accepting what is, with no resistance. Stop! What are you thinking and feeling now?
