Kanyakumari seems to be a pleasant for its colorful sea shores, delightful hills and coastal plains. The area of this district is mostly covered by coconut trees and paddy fields. This district includes many ancient and historic temples, churches and so many divine places. Total area of Kanyakumari is one thousand six hundred and seventy two square kilometers. This is 1.29 percent area of the Tamil Nadu state. It is the best and first district for literacy in Tamil Nadu. There are so many arts and engineering colleges in nagercoil.
Kanyakumari is located at the south corner of India. This historic district is covered by the Gulf of Mannar, Tirunelveli District, the Indian Ocean, the Arabian Sea, and the state of Kerala. Previously, this district was the counterpart of the Travancore, the part of the Kerala State. Form 1st of November 1956; Kanyakumari was mapped with the Tamil Nadu state. The main reason is the people from Agasteeswarem, Thovalai, Kalkulam and Vilavancode taluks usually speaks Tamil language.

Throughout the district there is a pleasant climate. The reason is because the district is so much favorable by an agro climatic condition. This climatic is suitable for the cultivation of the several crops. The rivers Thamiraparani, Valliar, Paraliyar, Pazhayar and Ponniavaika are used for the irrigation process for the district. Nearly 30 percent of the district is covered by forests, that is more than 50,000 hectares are covered by forests. Kanyakumari district receive rainfall from both the South-West monsoon from June to September and North-East monsoon from October to December.

Aralvaimozhi is the best entrance to this district. The two major divisions of the districts are Nagercoil and Padmanabhapuram. Each division is the head of the revenue category. In Nagercoil there is two revenue divisions Agasteeswaram taluks, it is the revenue headquarters of Nagercoil. Thovalai taluks is the next revenue headquarters of Boothapandi. Padmanabhapuram, has two revenue headquarters one is Kalkulam for Thuckalay and Vilavancode for Kuzhithurai. All these four taluks are managed by the Tashildars. Here Tamil and Malayalam are frequent languages spoken among the people. People of this district are from different religions and caste.
Kanyakumari is well famous for its wonderful and awesome tourist spots. There are so many tourist place in kanyakumari district some of which include: Mahatma Gandhi Memorial, Bagavathiamman Temple, Thiruvalluvar Statue, Vivekananda Rock Memorial, Kanyakumari sunrise spot, Kamarajar Manimandapam, Tower and Telescope House View, Mathoor Hanging Bridge, Government Museum, Suchindrum, Udayagiri Fort, Padmanabhapuram Palace, St. Xavier Church, Tirparappu Water Falls, Pechiparai Reservoir, Maruthuva Malai, Muttom Beach, Sanguthurai Beach, and Chothavilai Beach. There are so many travels in kanyakumari to guide the tourists.

The most important trading is ongoing like Cahew Kernal Processing Industry, Rubber and Rubber Corporation, Handloom Industry and Honey Processing. The rubber industry at Shenbagaramanbuthur is maintained by the state government. Kanyakumari has well rich types of soils naturally. Some of types of soils found here are gravelly soil, fortile soil, loamy clay soil, clay-leam of lateriteorigin with an admixture of gravel and sand. Kottar is the main and busy center for trade around the district. Some of the vegetables and coconut are exported to other states and countries.
