There are many types of detox programs in the market for any consumer who wants to undergo some cleansing in the body system. One of the more widely preferred detox programs is a liver detox.
Types of plans
Detox plans are widely publicized in various media such as health and beauty magazines, television and Internet. Some detox plans may be just a day or two while others can be as long as four weeks which may be quite taxing on some consumers.
Detox plans can combine nutrition and exercise components for a more effective outcome. There may be a fasting component in most detox diet plans while others may allow some juices or liquids. Another type of detox program allows only purified water to be drunk on the first day.
Liver detoxification is a common detox program undertaken by many consumers as it is considered very effective in removing the toxins from the body. The liver is known to be an important body organ with over 900 functions. It is a special body organ that functions to filter toxins from the body’s bloodstream. The liver is prone to clog with an input of pollutants from the environment, diets and lifestyle adopted by the consumer.
Toxins accumulate when the liver clogs; the body tissues can be adversely affected in their functioning to cause serious health issues that include constipation, high cholesterol and blood glucose levels with several minor discomforts like irritable bowel syndrome and fatigue.
Diet for the liver
A good liver detox plan is an effective balanced diet that is easily adopted by consumers. The primary component of the liver detox plan is being hydrated with wholesome organic foods in the daily diet. Hence, whole grains, fish, lean meats, vegetables and fruit are best. Liver-healthy foods in a liver detox diet include beets, seaweed, artichokes, turmeric, radishes and cabbage.
Certain foods must be avoided during a liver detox program. Processed foods and high sugar drinks are especially bad for the liver; these include caffeine, nicotine, illegal drugs and alcohol.
A liver detox program is aimed to cleanse the liver off toxins and to rejuvenate its good functioning. Hence, the liver must not be further stressed with possible harmful input while working to achieve optimum outcome.
There are some simple liver detox programs that many consumers use today such as flushing and vitamin supplements that are appropriate for the liver. Home remedies are plentiful with natural ingredients that bring on no side effects.
