Aviation Jobs contribute to a considerable section of the global economy. There are many types of jobs in aviation industry including pilot, aircraft mechanic jobs, air traffic controllers, Aircraft engineers and many other aviation related careers. Every year the civil aviation industry accounts for $1.3 Trillion of economic output, which is nearly around 5.2 percent of the United States G.D.P. While the civil industry is a large part of the economy the government also has many Aviation jobs from building the next generation of fighters for the military or running security forces at the airport. Owing to the trend of society relying more and more on aviation and related services, one can say that there will always be need for jobs in the aviation industry in the future as well.

One such area of the Aviation industry that is expected to grow significantly in the future is aircraft mechanic jobs. This is due to the aging fleet of aging civilian and military aircraft. The new wave of aircraft mechanics are going to be focused on cost effectiveness of upgrading with retrofit aging jets and planes to meet government standards. This will mean replacing and upgrading key components of the aircraft like radar systems, auto pilot systems, and upgrading to more fuel efficient and quitter engines. Considering the fact, Aircraft mechanics will have a substantial job outlook in the near future.

Another Major Job opening involving aviation jobs in the future will be air traffic controllers. During Ronald Regan & presidency the air traffic controller union went on strike demanding higher wages, instead of negotiating with the air traffic controllers Regan hired a new group of controllers, a large amount of these air traffic controllers will be reaching retirement age within the next five years creating a large amount of vacant positions needing to be filled. All though air traffic controllers are generally considered to be paid very well it is a very high stress, demanding and intellectual job.

Although there are many aviation jobs with a positive outlook for the future, there are a few that seem to be slowing in growth as well. People becoming a pilot in the past decade were often promised a high paying job straight out of school. That is far from the normal now days, the demanded for pilots has decreased in the recent years due to a large amount of schools offering pilot’s license increasing the supply while demand has relatively stayed the same. Most new pilots will be stuck flying cargo planes and other undesirable jobs until they have reached a considerable amount of flight hours.

Air traffic controllers and aircraft mechanic jobs are expecting a large growth over the next few years whereas pilots are expected to see a decrease in the demand. If you have also been planning to take up a job in aviation, there are many things you need to consider like who you want to work for - a private Airline company or in a government organization; would you like to work on planes or watch over all the planes flying in the air. Irrespective of the kind of job you are choosing in aviation, it be will be a rewarding career if you plan wisely.
